Chapter 3

Elsa Pov

I got home, the cinnamon roll still in my bag. Anna came running behind me and sat on the old rag that was on the floor.

"Well how was you day sis?" I asked smiling at her.

"It was great! And yours?" She asked happily. Always the same bubbly girl.

"It was good, well, I'll go to the Ice Cave Anna. I'll see if I can get some food and clothes." I told her while putting on an old jacket.

"Okay sis. I'll be here." She said smiling.

I got out from our house and headed to the Ice Cave. I had some friends there, well black marketers and I luckily found some cheap grain and oil.

I was then searching for some good clothes for the reaping tomorrow. The thought of the reaping made me have goose bumps on my arms. I've been to the reaping 3 years but because it's Anna's first year...

I'm nervous as a snowman when spring is starting, afraid to melt. I'm afraid they'll take Anna...

No,no. It's her first year. Her name is only one time. Chill Elsa, chill. Conceal, don't feel , don't let it show.

The dirty and cold market wasn't full of people today. I looked for some place to buy clothes when I saw Momma odie's stand. She is a kind, old lady. A bit crazy you could say. She sometimes gives me some soup she makes, gumbo, I think it's named. She tells me stories about how she came here from district Earth.

I chuckled slightly thinking about how she talks to a stick she uses  for walking because she's blind. She tells me is her pet serpent. I just chuckle and agree.

I walked over to her stand and called for her.

"Momma Odie! You there?" I called.  I heard shuffling at the back and a raspy voice talked.

"Give me a second Elsie!"

Then the old lady emerged from there. She came out and waved.

"Hey dear! How are you?" She asked smiling.

"Good mama Odie. And you?" I said kindly.

"I'm good thank you, but i really sense you are more stressed than usual... Is it for the reaping?" She asked frowning.

She does know me.

"Well yes... It's Anna's first year." I whispered sadly. I felt the temperature drop a bit.

Conceal Elsa.

"Oh dear. Don't worry! It's her first year. Well, I think you are looking for something to wear tomorrow?" She asked smiling.

Is she a seer!?!

"Well yes..." I said.

"You are lucky! I've got two dresses just for you and Anna!" She said and went to the back.

She then came back with two beautiful dresses, one was black with a green bottom part. It was just for Anna. And the other one was turquoise with black long sleeves. It had turquoise gloves also. I gaped at them.  (Coronation day dresses but modern and shorter.)

"They are beautiful! They must cost a fortune! I can't buy them momma Odie." I said still amazed by the dresses.

"No no no! You will take them! It's a gift from me!" She said and gave them to me.

"But- but they are expensive! You could gain a lot selling them!" I said trying to give them back.

"No buts! I say they are yours now! Now go to your house and get ready for tomorrow dear." She said smiling.

I hugged her tightly.

"Thank you so much!" I said.

"No problem dear! Now go! My gumbo is burning!" She said and went to the back of her stand.

I laughed and started walking out of the market. The streets were almost empty now. As I walked it started to snow. It wasn't me, it was just the weather. I then heard laughter.

I looked to my left to see a girl about Anna's age being carried in a guy's shoulders . She giggled and started yelling.

"Stop it Jack!" She yelled chuckling

I froze.

I recognized his silvery white. My eyes widened and I put my head low. He can't see me.

Please don't see me! Please don't see me!

"Elsa? Is that you?" I heard someone say.

Crap.

I continued walking making like I didn't hear.

Don't follow me!

"Hey wait up!" I heard.

Crap crap.

Then a hand was on my shoulder. I turned around slowly.

I saw his cyan blue eyes crinkling in a smile. I weakly smiled back.

"Hi, I never thought I would see you around here." I said almost whispering.

"Well Emma and me like to take walks in the afternoon." He said pointing to the girl.

She waved at me. She had brown hair and brown eyes.

"I'm Jack's sister! Nice to meet you." She said happily.

"Nice to meet you too Emma." I said smiling weakly

"Want to come with us Elsa?" Jack asked smiling.

Oh oh

"No thank you. I have to go to my house already. Mom and Dad must be worried." I said lying smoothly.

I've lied about my parents so many times its natural, but it still hurts to know its a lie. That I don't have parents.

It snowed heavier. Conceal Elsa !

"We can go with you." Emma offered kindly.

No, no! Why are they so nice!? That's good but it makes it harder!

"No, don't worry. You must be heading home. The snow is getting heavier." I said and made it snow a bit harder on purpose.

"Oh well you're right. Better get going Jack." Emma said smiling.

"But we can-" Jack started again.

"No, don't worry. Now go." I cut him off smiling a bit.

He reluctantly turned around and went with Emma.

"See you tomorrow at the reaping Elsa" Jack said.

"See you.." I whispered as the snow got really strong.

Conceal,don't feel,don't let it show.

Tomorrow is the reaping...

Anna can be chosen...

No, her name is just one time right? They can't choose her, or yes?
