"Hi sweetie. What took so long?" My mom asks in a teasing tone, right after I get back home. "I was saying hi to Ethan's parents" I say innocently, shrugging my shoulders.
"Oh no no no you're telling everything. Right now" she says, crossing her arms as she stares at me with a cocked eyebrow. I groan, knowing that she won't let it go and so I proceed to tell her the entire story.
"Damn that boy loves you" she comments, shaking her head in awe. "I'm sorry that's all you got from my whole story?"
"Uh yes? Isn't that basically the whole story?" she asks like it was the most obvious thing. "What about you?" she turns her question to me.
"I love him, mom. I do but I don't know how to tell him. I don't even know if he loves me" I say, sulking a little as I take a seat on the stools near the island, facing my mom. She lets out a small sigh before leaning in and resting her elbows on the island. "Listen sweetie. You can't know what he feels for you but you do know how you feel. Tell him when you feel sure of YOUR feelings not his" she tells me softly as she reassures me.
"In fact I told your father I loved him before he did. I told him first because I felt sure of my feelings and because I really did love him. He also returned my feelings and that's how we got married a few years later" she tells me about her past, reminiscing. I laugh at her words, admiring the love my parents shared for each other.
"I hope that happens for me too, mom. Anyways, I'm going to head back to my room and work on some homework" I sigh, not really wanting to. I hate math. My mom chuckles at my mood change as I make my way back. Right before I can get started on my assignments, I hear a notification alarm from my phone and I see a text from Ethan, which brings a smile onto my face.

Hi love. Sorry for getting back to you late.
I had to take a shower

You must be tired from driving this morning and playing with Jazzie all afternoon. You should get some rest.

Turning off my phone, I go to work on my assignment for the next two hours before I decide to get some beauty sleep that I very much needed.
"MOM!! Can you come here? I need help with the zip!" I yell from my room. I was currently getting ready to have dinner with Ethan's family and I had 30 minutes before Ethan arrives to pick me up.
