Bella

"I've got something! I've got something!" I hear an excited voice exclaim through the speaker of my phone. "The unsub meets all of the women at night clubs! But not just any night club- this is why it took me so long to figure it out! This bastard keeps outsmarting us, but not anymore. Not any-" My voice is calm as I interrupt her, figuring this could go on for a while if I don't. "Penelope, focus. What did you find?"

I hear her breathe out a shaky breath. She's just as done with this case as I am. "The unsub targets nightclubs in alphabetical order. He started with Abby's, where he met his first victim, then went to Benson's party house and met the second, and then Dance Club Virginia. A, B, D. And you're probably asking yourself, why did he skip C? That's because there were no nightclubs that started with C in his comfort zone!"

I imitate Morgan to cheer her up after this long long week: "babygirl, you the best!" After hearing her chuckle, my phone goes back to it's homescreen and I quickly run to the table where the rest of the team is seated.

"Garcia found something. As we had established, the unsub finds his victims in night clubs, right? Well, there seems to be a pattern between those night clubs." I quickly explain what Garcia explained to me, and Luke is the first to react. "So basically you're saying that we need to send someone into the next club... undercover?" I nod excitedly, needing to be done with this case. "Yes, and the next club is...." I quickly look at the text Garcia just send me. "Golden lounge!"

"So, who are we sending in?" I look through the room, studying everybody's reactions... but they're not as I had hoped. And then it hits me: I look like the victims.

This is definitely gonna suck.

"You're sending me in, aren't you?" I look at Hotch, whose face is unreadable. He thinks for a minute and then... "only if you're comfortable with that."

Such a typical agent Hotchner response.

"Well, if that means we can finally be done with this case, I'll do it." I say, trying to seem like I mean that but failing miserably. I sit down next to Emily with my fresh cup of coffee, while feeling someone's eyes on my back. Then I hear his voice.

"I don't think we should send Bella in."

I turn around and don't hesitate to shoot back a comment. "I can handle myself, Reid. I don't need anyone looking out for me" especially you. But I don't add that part, since we're surrounded by officers and agents, just trying to do their job. I want to stare him down, but he avoids my eyes.

Weird...

"That's not why I said it, I know you can handle yourself. It's just a big risk to take. What if something goes wrong?" His voice betrays a hint of worry, which confuses me. Does he care? About me? That's a first...

"Hotch, let me at least accompany her. That way, I can jump in if things start to escalate."
"I don't need-"
"Bella, Reid goes in with you. He's right, we can't risk it." With that, Hotch puts down his file, stands up and leaves the room. The rest stays silent, feeling the tension in the room cut through like a knife. Then, slowly, all of them mutter some excuse and leave the room, leaving me behind with Doctor Reid.

I turn to look at him, but he's already staring at me, and I freeze. His eyes... they show some kind of... protectiveness?

I think my heartbeat just went up by 20...
No no no. Don't do that. Don't see things that aren't there.

I quickly gather myself, my voice hoarse as I speak. "Suddenly grew a heart, Reid?" He looks at me with a calm expression. "I've always had a heart, Bella. Unlike you with your breasts."

no. he. did. not.

Before I can stop myself, I spit the words out. "So you like looking at my breasts, doctor Reid?" I have to stop myself from covering my mouth. Why did I say that? I want to avoid his eyes, I want to run out, but my curiosity gets the better off me and I meet his gaze. He's grinning. Of course he is. "Don't look at me like that." I mutter, grabbing my stuff. He starts grabbing some things too.

"I'll look at you however I want, Bella."

My breath hitches and I look at him in shock. The way he said my name. Like he owns me. Like... he was flirting...? He starts walking out, but as he reaches the door, he stops and turns around with a smirk. "And to answer your question, I can't like looking at something that's not there, Bella."

"Son of a-"
He shuts the door in my face and I let out a loud groan. Why is he always so infuriating?! Why is he always so cocky and arrogant and-

"I'll look at you however I want, Bella."

Why can't I get those words out of my head?
