In the beginning, before time had taken form and the earth had been born, there was only the great Void, a canvas waiting to be painted with the brushstrokes of existence. From this Void, the First Creator emerged—a being of boundless power and infinite potential. The Creator was neither male nor female, neither light nor dark, but a singular force, capable of shaping the fabric of the universe itself.
The Creator, in its eternal wisdom, decided that the world needed balance. Without balance, there could be no harmony. Without light, there could be no shadow. And so, it envisioned seven forces, seven primordial beings that would shape the hearts and minds of those who would one day inhabit the world.
The Creation of the Seven Deadly Sins
From the Void, the Creator first summoned the seven Deadly Sins—each one an embodiment of a destructive force that would challenge the will and spirit of humanity. They were the darkness in the hearts of men, the flaws and weaknesses that would test the strength of those who would walk the earth.
1. Lust was born first, formed from the swirling passions and desires that lay dormant in the Void. She was given the power to tempt, to seduce, and to corrupt. Her beauty was radiant and magnetic, an irresistible force that drew souls to her, only to leave them hollow and unsatisfied. She would be the desire for more, the craving that could never be quenched.
2. Gluttony followed, a being of endless hunger and consumption. He was shaped from the insatiable need to fill a void—be it with food, power, or indulgence. His form was grotesque, ever-growing, ever-reaching, and insatiable. He would drive those who fell to him to devour everything in their path, leaving nothing but emptiness in his wake.
3. Greed was created next, a figure who believed that the world could be bought and sold. His form was as sharp and calculating as a blade, and his heart was filled with an endless thirst for more—more wealth, more influence, more power. He would show humanity the dangers of valuing things over souls, the cost of never being satisfied with what one had.
4. Sloth came into being as the embodiment of inaction. He was a figure of stillness, lethargy, and indifference, born from the apathy that would spread when souls chose to do nothing. His presence made the world seem dull and heavy, encouraging those he touched to abandon their purpose and drift aimlessly through life.
5. Wrath was the next sin, a storm of fury, born from the violent impulses that existed within the Void. His form was fierce, burning with an anger that consumed all reason. His presence would inspire rage in the hearts of men, turning allies into enemies and creating destruction wherever he went.
6. Envy emerged from the shadows, a being consumed by jealousy. He saw what others had and longed for it, but rather than working for it, he sought to tear it down. He would sow division and bitterness, causing individuals to resent each other, to covet what they did not possess, and to destroy what others had built.
7. Pride was the final sin, the most dangerous of all. He was born from the belief that one was superior to others, that the world should bend to one’s will. His arrogance blinded him to the value of humility and the strength found in unity. He would push those who fell to him to seek power, fame, and recognition above all else, often leading them to their own downfall.
Together, the seven sins were powerful and destructive, each one a force that would challenge the hearts of those who walked the earth. Yet, in their creation, the Creator understood that there could be no darkness without light, no evil without good. And so, the Creator turned its attention to the virtues, the forces that would provide balance to the sins and offer a way for humanity to overcome them.
The Creation of the Seven Heavenly Virtues
From the same Void, the Creator summoned the seven Heavenly Virtues, each one a force of light and guidance meant to temper the deadly flaws of mankind. They were the shining opposites of the seven sins, embodying the qualities of purity, compassion, and strength that would lead humanity toward salvation.
1. Chastity was born from the need for purity of mind, body, and soul. She was a figure of grace and self-control, a guardian of innocence who would show humanity the strength of self-restraint. Her presence would inspire people to love without lust, to seek fulfillment not in fleeting desires, but in true emotional and spiritual connection.
2. Temperance followed, formed from the essence of moderation. She was the embodiment of balance, guiding the hearts of men to enjoy the gifts of life without excess. She taught that indulgence could be sweet, but only when tempered with wisdom. Her presence would remind all to find contentment in enough, and never to be ruled by greed or gluttony.
3. Charity was next, born from the need for compassion and generosity. She was a figure of warmth, a protector of the poor and the helpless, whose heart overflowed with love for all. She would show humanity that the true wealth lay not in possessions, but in giving. Her hands were always open, always ready to share what little she had with others.
4. Diligence came into being, formed from the drive to act, to work, and to achieve. She was a tireless worker, a figure who never grew weary of striving toward a goal. Where Sloth sought to cause stagnation, Diligence inspired progress, teaching humanity that success was born of effort and perseverance, and that one could never rise without putting forth their best.
5. Patience emerged as a force of calm and endurance. She was the embodiment of long-suffering, able to withstand hardship without complaint. Where Wrath sought to strike with violence, Patience encouraged those who faced injustice or adversity to remain calm and wait for the right time to act. Her steady presence brought peace in times of conflict.
6. Kindness was born as the force of unconditional love and empathy. She was the gentle touch that healed wounds, the listening ear that understood even when words were not spoken. Her heart was a wellspring of compassion, teaching humanity that no act of kindness, no matter how small, was ever wasted.
7. Humility was the final virtue, the force that grounded all others. She was born from the understanding that no one was above anyone else, that all were equal in the eyes of the Creator. Where Pride sought to elevate the self above all others, Humility showed humanity the power of modesty, the strength in serving others, and the wisdom in knowing one’s place in the world.
The Creator smiled, for it knew that with the creation of the seven virtues, balance had been restored. The virtues would guide humanity, while the sins would challenge them. But the power of choice—whether to succumb to darkness or rise toward the light—would always lie within the hearts of men. And so, the Creator set the world in motion, knowing that the battle between sin and virtue would continue for all eternity.
And thus, the first chapter of existence was written: a world where light and darkness would forever dance in a delicate, intricate balance.
