I paced in front of her mirror, eyeing myself from every angle. The room was a mess, clothes strewn everywhere as I sifted through the options me and Carolina had pulled out for the party.
Carolina stood in front of the full-length mirror, adjusting the flowing white fabric of her ghost costume, her red hair cascading over the material like a fiery halo. "You think this is too much?" she asked, her voice light but with an edge of uncertainty.
I raised an eyebrow, tossing a pair of black cat ears on top of my head. "It's Halloween, Caro. The more dramatic, the better."
Carolina shrugged and twirled in the mirror, her ghostly white costume trailing behind her. "You're right. I'm channeling my inner spirit." She winked.
I was admiring my own outfit—a sleek black cat suit that accentuates my figure, my tail playfully swishing as I turned and black cat ears to complete the look
✨SHES A FURRY✨🤪
"Okay, I'm ready to show these people how it's done," I said, adjusting my choker. "Let's go make an entrance."
The limo ride felt like a blur of laughter and teasing, with everyone crammed into the plush interior, making jokes and laughing whilst I vlogged our precious moments.
As usual, Raven was being Raven, sarcastic and mocking anyone who dared to be too enthusiastic. Bianca was busy snapping photos on her phone, making sure she looked perfect from every angle.
Cerise, on the other hand, was glued to her screen, scrolling through some app I didn't even recognize, probably hunting down the best party spots—or maybe hacking into someone's social media.
Who knew with her?
Carolina and I sat side by side, exchanging glances and grinning.
We were ready.
I glanced down at my black cat suit, adjusting the tail for the hundredth time.
Bianca motioned toward the windows whilst turning her phone to film, as the limo slowed to a stop. The club, Masquerade, loomed before us, bathed in eerie purple and green lights.
The Halloween-themed party was already in full swing, and the sounds of distant laughter and music floated toward us.
"We're here," I said, already feeling the buzz of the night getting under my skin.
The door opened, and we were revealed to Raven, Bianca, and Cerise clad in their own bold costumes.
Raven stepped out in her dark velvet dress, the lace sleeves casting shadows over her arms as she adjusted the wide-brimmed witch hat tilted just right. A silver buckle caught the light, and her obsidian pendant rested at her throat like a final warning. With a smirk, she adjusted her lace-up boots, ready to own the night.
Bianca appeared in a shimmering silver gown, her feathered wings casting a soft glow. A delicate halo rested above her head, and with a dazzling smile, she looked every bit like a fallen angel.
Cerise wore a high-tech, neon-lit bodysuit with metallic accents. She wears a VR headset-inspired mask, with LED lights woven into her outfit that pulse with the beat of the music.
"So.. what exactly are you supposed to be Cerise? A robot?" Raven asked, her voice dripping in sarcasm.
"Oh please Rav, go drink a cauldron that will shut you up," Cerise snapped back. "And guys, we have to put on our masks remember. Let's get a true feel of this party!"
We all fitted on our matching accessory that veiled half our faces. Of course this was a masked Halloween party.
As we entered the club, the atmosphere was electric. Fog machines puffed out thick clouds that slithered across the floor, and overhead, chandeliers glowed with dim, flickering light.
Every guest was wearing a mask, and the crowd was an endless sea of mystery and intrigue.
The moment we stepped onto the dance floor, I could feel eyes on me. It wasn't just the usual party vibe where people checked you out; this felt different. People were staring hard.
I toured my camera in the air, trying to capture all of the luxury of this club in one tape..
And then I noticed him.
Across the room, leaning casually against a pillar, stood a man dressed in a sharp vampire costume—his mask was silver and intricate, but what really grabbed my attention were his eyes.
He was staring straight at me, unwavering, as though I was the only person in the room. I set my camera down.
This was... unsettling.
I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. Maybe he was just another guy here to enjoy the party, but I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something too intense about the way he was watching me..
And only me...
I leaned in toward Carolina, keeping my voice low. "Do you see that guy?" I asked, nodding toward the vampire. "He won't stop staring at me."
Carolina glanced over. "I see him. He's probably just trying to figure out who's behind the mask. You know how it is at these things.
Mysterious vibes.""Maybe," I said, but something about him still made my skin crawl. He was just standing there, like he was waiting for me to make the next move.
"Well,I'm going to go teach this creep a lesson." I muttered, shoving my camera into Carolina's hands.
Carolina, always the peacemaker, gave me a look. "Maybe he's just shy, Amira. Let's not start a scene."
But I was already stepping away, weaving through the crowd toward him. My heels clicked on the floor as I made my way through the dim, shifting lights.
The figure seemed to flicker in and out, like he was merging with the shadows. One second he was there, the next he'd vanished into the darkness.
Just as I reached where he'd been standing, I felt a chill down my spine—then a collision. I gasped as my drink sloshed out, splattering all over someone's expensive jacket.
I looked up, horrified, into the bewildered face of a stranger.
"Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" I stammered, fumbling for a napkin. The guy looked at his soaked jacket, then back at me, his irritation giving way to a crooked smile. "Guess I'll just stand clear of anyone with a tail next time."
I forced a laugh, heat rising to my cheeks. "Right... I, uh, owe you a drink."
But as I handed him a napkin, my gaze drifted over his shoulder—and there he was again, the vampire in the silver mask, watching me from across the room.
