Summary: Jeongin has always admired Chan's leadership, but tonight, something feels different. A quiet moment after practice brings them closer in a way Jeongin never expected.

It was a quiet night at the Stray Kids dorm, the usual
hum of energy replaced by the soft ticking of a clock in the corner of the living room. Most of the members had already retreated to their rooms, exhausted after a long day of practice and recording. Only two remained: Jeongin and Chan.

Jeongin leaned back against the couch, his eyes flicking over to the older member who was sitting across from him, typing away on his laptop. Chan, as always, looked focused and calm, his fingers moving quickly over the keys as he worked through some final notes for their upcoming schedule. The soft glow of the lamp cast shadows across his face, highlighting his sharp features and furrowed brow.

Jeongin watched him for a moment, not sure why he couldn't tear his gaze away. He had always looked up to Chan. The way he carried himself, his unwavering leadership, his ability to balance being a guide and a friend to all of them—it was something Jeongin admired deeply. But tonight, there was something about the older man that made Jeongin's heart beat a little faster than usual.

It wasn't just the way Chan spoke to him or how he always encouraged him during practice. It was something unspoken, a bond that felt more personal than he was ready to admit.

"You okay, I.N?" Chan's voice broke through his thoughts, and Jeongin looked up, startled.

"Yeah, I'm good," Jeongin replied quickly, his voice betraying a slight nervousness. He scratched the back of his neck, trying to cover up the awkwardness that he felt. "Just... thinking."

"About what?" Chan asked, raising an eyebrow. He closed his laptop, giving Jeongin his full attention now.

Jeongin hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to share what was on his mind. But there was something about the softness in Chan's eyes, the way he always made Jeongin feel like he could say anything, that made him speak up.

"I don't know," he began, his voice a little more hesitant than he intended. "It's just... you. You always seem so put together, you know? Like, you're always in control. I don't know how you do it."

Chan smiled gently, his eyes softening as he leaned forward slightly, elbows on his knees. "It's not always like that, Jeongin. I have my moments, too. But I try to lead by example. You don't have to be perfect, but you have to keep moving forward. That's all any of us can do."

Jeongin nodded, feeling a little bit better but still unsure of how to articulate what he was really feeling. "I guess... I guess sometimes I wonder if I'm good enough. Like, I'm still learning, and you make everything look so easy."

Chan chuckled, shaking his head. "I'm far from perfect. But you're doing great. You've improved so much, Jeongin. Don't doubt yourself."

The words were simple, yet they struck Jeongin in a way he didn't expect. He felt a warmth in his chest, a sense of reassurance that he had been missing for a while. He smiled faintly, grateful for Chan's encouragement.

"You really think so?" Jeongin asked, a hint of disbelief in his voice.

"Of course," Chan said, his tone serious now. "I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it."

Jeongin met his eyes, something unspoken passing between them. There was a quiet moment where the world outside the dorm seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them in the stillness of the night. The bond between them, once distant and professional, now felt more like something unbreakable, something real.

"I think you're pretty amazing too, Chan," Jeongin said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Chan blinked, caught off guard by the sincerity in Jeongin's words. For a moment, he didn't know what to say. But then, he smiled, a real, genuine smile that made Jeongin's heart flutter.

"Thanks, Innie. That means a lot."

They sat in silence for a while longer, the quiet companionship comfortable between them. Eventually, Chan stood up, stretching his arms overhead.

"Wanna grab some snacks before bed?" he asked, glancing at Jeongin.

Jeongin smiled, feeling lighter than he had in a long time. "Yeah, let's do it."

As they headed to the kitchen together, Jeongin couldn't help but feel that this was the start of something deeper. The bond they shared wasn't just about being teammates. It was something more, something he wasn't sure how to put into words yet. But for the first time, he felt like he didn't need to have it all figured out. Not tonight.

Tonight, all that mattered was that they had each other.
