THE HORIZON SO ENTICING ...
THE SUN HAD already dipped below the horizon, casting a faint purple hue over the parking lot of the small convenience store.Hazel sat in the passenger seat of the car, staring out the window.Her older brother, Honor, was just about to run inside to grab a bottle of water for their trip.
"You sure you don't want anything?" he asked, turning back to her with a grin. He was always trying to be the responsible older brother, even though they were only a year apart.
"I'm good," she replied, she just wanted him to hurry so she could see their parents. The cool evening air was settling in, and there was an odd quiet in the moment that made her uneasy, though she couldn't place why.
Honor nodded, giving her a small wave before he hopped out of the car. She watched him as he approached the door of the store, his hands shoved into his hoodie pockets. He wasn't a tall guy, but he had this air of confidence that seemed to make people think twice before messing with him.
