As the celebration buzzed around them, Aarohi sauntered up to Ishani, sipping her Coke with a cheeky grin. "That jerk doing okay now?" Aarohi asked casually.
Ishani raised an eyebrow. "Jerk?"
"Yeah, your boyfriend. Kabir Sahab," Aarohi replied, adding an exaggerated tone of fake respect.
Ishani chuckled softly. "Yeah, he's okay," she said before turning serious. "But... I'm not."
Aarohi paused, lowering her glass to the table. "What's wrong?"
"I think I should break up," Ishani said with a sigh, her words heavy with a mix of frustration and resignation.
Aarohi's eyes widened in delight as she let out a loud cheer, throwing her hands into the air. "Finally!" she exclaimed, her voice ringing out.
The room suddenly went quiet, all eyes turning to them. "Finally, what?" Maya asked curiously, her brows furrowed.
Aarohi froze mid-celebration, realizing her slip. Her arms still awkwardly raised, she stammered, "The wedding? Finally, it's happening!" She plastered on a nervous smile, nudging Ishani for backup.
Ishani quickly chimed in, "Yes, yes! The wedding. Big moment, right?" She nudged Aarohi again, shooting her a warning look.
Maya smiled warmly, satisfied with their explanation, and turned back to the lively chatter. As the room resumed its celebrations, Rahul sidled up to Sameer, leaning in conspiratorially.
"I don't trust that mad woman," Rahul muttered, his eyes narrowing at Aarohi.
Sameer chuckled. "She's not mad."
"Oh, she is," Rahul insisted, shaking his head as Aarohi gave him a playful glare from across the room.
Meanwhile, Ishani dragged Aarohi to a corner, crossing her arms and eyeing her friend with mock exasperation. "Seriously? Your friend is contemplating a breakup, and you're screaming in happiness?"
Aarohi grinned unabashedly. "Of course! You're dumping that jerk, and I couldn't be happier. I'm so proud of you," she said, her tone as triumphant as a proud mom seeing her child win a trophy.
"You're really weird sometimes," Ishani replied, chuckling despite herself.
"And that's why you love me," Aarohi quipped with a wink, slinging an arm around Ishani's shoulder as the two dissolved into laughter.
As the laughter between Ishani and Aarohi faded, Aarohi's expression grew curious. "What changed? How come you're suddenly talking about a breakup?"
Ishani hesitated for a moment before saying, "It's a long story."
Aarohi leaned closer, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "I'm all ears."
Ishani chuckled softly, shaking her head at Aarohi's persistence. She grabbed her friend's hand and led her to her room. They sat cross-legged on the bed, the familiar comfort of the space allowing Ishani to relax slightly.
She began recounting the events of the night when Kabir left her stranded, her voice steady but tinged with an edge of hurt. She then told Aarohi about the conversation with Riya, her words carefully measured as she tried to suppress the surge of emotions.
