Sameer sat on the bonnet of his car, his fingers absentmindedly scrolling through his phone.

He had left earlier, yes, but the excuse of a "meeting" had been a lie.

The truth?

He just couldn't focus anywhere else. Not after seeing her. Not after dropping her off and feeling that restless tug in his chest.

So, without thinking much, he had found himself back here, waiting.

Waiting for her.

The soft buzz of his phone pulled him from his thoughts. He glanced down, and his heart skipped a beat. Ishani.

Without wasting a second, he picked up.

"Hello? Muffin," he greeted, his voice instantly warm, completely unaware that she was standing just a few feet away, watching him.

"Hey, Sam," Ishani said, biting her lip, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Where are you?"

Sameer's eyes flickered around as if she could somehow see him. He quickly got down from the bonnet, hesitating before saying, "At the office."

Silence.

Sameer froze.

His mind went blank for a second, processing her words. Slowly, he pulled the phone away from his ear, staring at it as if it had just given him the biggest shock of his life. Then, he put it back.

"You called... to say that I was looking good?" he asked, almost like he couldn't believe it.

"Yes," Ishani confirmed, watching him closely from her hiding spot, amused.

Sameer was still standing there, trying to form a coherent response. "Well... thanks," he finally said, his voice slightly dazed.

Ishani bit her lip, suppressing a chuckle.

"Okay, I'll go now," she said. "Aarohi is calling me."

She didn't wait for a reply, ending the call with a soft bye before slipping her phone back into her purse.

But she didn't leave.

Instead, she stayed hidden, watching him, waiting to see what he'd do.

Sameer was still staring at his phone, the biggest, dumbest grin spreading across his face. And then, suddenly-
