I grumbled inwardly, leaning heavily on my crutches as I tried to move around. I hated these things-they were clunky, annoying, and made me feel useless. But they were better than sitting idle all day.

Just as I was reaching for something, I heard Abhishek's voice echo across the room.

"Oh hello, Maharani ji," he said, his tone dripping with mockery.

I turned my head sharply, narrowing my eyes at him. "What?" I snapped.

"Yaha khade hone ki halat nahi hai tumhari aur kaam karna hai. Baitho chup chaap," he said, marching toward me like he owned the place. He did though.

"I was doing my work," I muttered, huffing as he snatched whatever I was holding and practically shoved me onto the couch.

"Tum padhai karo," he ordered, plopping my course book into my lap with exaggerated authority. "Aaj Mumma ka khana main banaunga," he added, flipping his hair like some Bollywood hero.

"It would be better if we leave the cooking to Bhola Bhaiya, you know," I said.

He gasped, clutching his chest like I'd just insulted his entire existence. "You are saying that I don't know how to cook?" he asked, his tone melodramatic.

"Yes," I replied bluntly, barely stifling a laugh at his theatrics.

His face twisted into a look of pure betrayal, like I'd shattered all his hopes and dreams. "How could you?" he said, dramatically placing a hand over his heart.

I rolled my eyes. "Don't act like Shubman," I said dryly, unable to hold back my chuckle.

That caught his attention. His eyes narrowed. "And how do you know Shubman acts like this?" he asked, his tone suspicious.

I froze for a second, caught off guard. "Uh... he's your best friend, and I've seen him a couple of times. It's not rocket science," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant.
