You look outside your door to find a small black cat lying on the ground. It looks malnourished and tired.

"Oh my gosh you poor thing. Hold on. I'll get you somewhere warm."

You pick up the small creature delicately like it's made of glass and could break at the slightest touch. It stirs as you bring it into the warmth of your small apartment but it doesn't stay awake long, only long enough to make a soft sound that almost sounds like a groan. You place the cat on top of a few pillows and look it over attempting to find any injuries.

Its paws are raw as if it's been running for hours. The only external injury. Other than its paws it's only malnourished. You sigh and look in your fridge for food cats can eat. You open Google on your phone to see if you can find any information on what you can feed this poor creature. You find some ham and sigh in relief when you see that it's okay for cats to eat.

You dice the ham and put it into the shallowest bowl you own hoping the cat will wake up to the smell but even after waving the ham around it's still out cold.

"It must be tired." You're interrupted by a yawn reminding you that it's one in the morning. "I'm tired too. I'll check on it in the morning."

You stand and place the ham in your fridge. Before you head to your room, you glance at the cat one more time, frowning at its state. You sigh one more time before heading into your room and closing the door. This is a problem for the morning.
