1: Percy

"Percy!" A faint voice called. "Percy!"

"Wh-?" He fumbled, eyes blurry, vision not quite focused.

"Percy!"

He felt like he was walking through maple syrup. Percy's eyes felt heavy, his limbs being dragged down under their own weight.

"Percy! Help!" The voice grew in desperation, beginning to hysterically shriek, "Help! Help!"

Unable to get bearings on his surroundings, Percy flailed his limbs slightly and began to fight the weight on his eyelids.

"Help! Help! Help!

When he finally opened his eyes Percy saw....

Nothing.

Pure, empty, desolate darkness.

Beneath the desperate chorus, there was a new, deep, voice.

He closed his eyes, once again giving into the part of him that was just so... so tired. Maybe he should take a nap. He tried to give in, give into the darkness. He let himself relax. You don't want to fight it, it told him.

"It's all your fault."

The voice took a new form. The darkness taking a shape. He could no longer tell whether or not his eyes were actually open. The darkness took on a new color. A neon orange T-shirt.

"You could have saved him."

Surfer-blonde hair.

"Do you even care that he's gone?"

A brilliant, beautiful cerulean blue.

Why didn't you try harder?"

A celestial bronze blade. Twisting. Turning. Cutting.

He flinched.

"Why didn't you take the dagger from him?"

An almost squishy, slick noise.

A gut-wrenching shriek.

"Help! Percy! Help!"

"You were too late."

"Did you even try to save him?"

All the fight left his body.

Agony ripped through him. Mercilessly ripping its way up his torso, arms and neck, leaving nothing untouched. It soon took a new twist, his whole body burning alive. Throbbing, throbbing, shredding.

"You'll never be able to save him."

Knives sliced through his skull. Tearing, tearing, ripping. His legs shook, his arms spasmed, his body writhing.

A puddle. Why was he so wet?

Was it raining?

A hysterical giggle left his mouth.

Something stabbed his arm.

Cutting, slicing, slashing. A cold sensation passed over him, a brief respite from all the...

Pain. Excruciating pain.

Red... red... red....

Wh– where was it– who was it coming from?

"It's all my fault."
