The estate’s vast halls began to feel like a prison. Taehyung was always near—hovering, watching, ensuring that every aspect of your life revolved around him. At first, you thought he was just being protective after your loss, but his presence now felt deliberate, calculated. One afternoon, while arranging flowers in the study, you heard a soft knock on the door. Before you could respond, Taehyung entered, his eyes fixated on you.
“I’ve been looking for you,” he said, closing the door behind him.
“I needed some space,” you replied, keeping your tone light.
Taehyung’s jaw clenched, though he quickly masked it with a smile. “Space? From me?”
You turned back to the flowers, feeling his gaze burning into your back. “It’s nothing personal, Taehyung. I just... I need to think.”
His footsteps echoed as he approached. In an instant, he was behind you, his hands gripping your shoulders.
“You don’t have to think alone,” he murmured, his voice low and velvety. “I can help you, ___.”
The way he said your name sent a shiver down your spine. You tried to step away, but his hands tightened, keeping you in place.
“Taehyung,” you began, your voice trembling.
“You’ve been so distant,” he interrupted, his grip loosening but his presence remaining overwhelming. “Do you think I don’t notice? Do you think I don’t see how you’re trying to push me away?”
“I’m not—”
“You are,” he insisted, spinning you to face him. His dark eyes bore into yours, a mix of anger and something far more dangerous. “Why? After everything I’ve done for you, why are you running from me?”
His sudden intensity left you speechless. Before you could respond, his hands cupped your face, his thumbs brushing against your cheeks.
“You don’t see it yet, do you?” he whispered, leaning closer. “You don’t see how much I care for you. How much I need you.”
His lips were on yours before you could react—firm, insistent, almost desperate. You froze, your mind racing. His kiss was nothing like your late husband’s. It was demanding, consuming, and it terrified you.
You pushed against his chest, but he didn’t budge. Instead, his hands slid down to your waist, pulling you closer.
“Stop,” you managed to gasp, turning your face away.
Taehyung’s breath was hot against your ear. “Why are you so afraid of me?” he asked, his voice low and almost pleading. “You’re all I have left, ___.”
His words sent a chill through you. You pushed harder this time, finally breaking free from his grasp.
“Taehyung, this isn’t right,” you said, your voice shaking.
He stepped back, his expression darkening. For a moment, you thought he might lash out, but then his lips curled into a cold smile.
“You’ll see,” he said quietly, his gaze unwavering. “You’ll see that no one else can protect you like I can. No one else can love you like I do.”
With that, he turned and left the room, leaving you trembling.

That Night
You lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying the kiss in your mind. You felt violated, confused, and yet... a small part of you couldn’t shake the memory of his lips, the intensity of his touch.
Your phone buzzed on the nightstand. It was a message from your friend.
“I’ve heard things about Taehyung. Be careful, okay? Call me if you need help.”
You stared at the message, unsure of what to do. Before you could respond, your bedroom door creaked open.
Taehyung stood in the doorway, his expression unreadable.
“Still awake?” he asked, stepping inside.
You sat up, clutching the blanket to your chest. “What are you doing here?”
He closed the door, leaning against it. “I couldn’t sleep, knowing you were upset with me.”
“I’m not—”
“Yes, you are,” he said, cutting you off. His voice softened as he walked toward the bed. “I hate seeing you like this, ___.”
He sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to brush a strand of hair from your face. You flinched, and his hand froze.
“You don’t need to be afraid of me,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I would never hurt you.”
But his words felt like a lie, and deep down, you knew this was only the beginning of his obsession.
