The ride to Gangnam was long and you had arrived late at the night. Once at the castle a guard and a maid showed you to the study where the King sat waiting for your arrival.
"King Ju-won." Yoongi bowed and you followed suit. The older man stood, setting down his glass of whiskey and turned towards you both. With a small bow he began to walk past you both.
"I expected you both earlier. It's a tad late to be having dinner but we'll make do." Rolling your eyes you followed behind Yoongi who walked next to the King discussing things.
"Prince Yoongi, you remember my daughter, Princess Elva."
"Hello again Yoongi." The girl snickered and jealousy flared in you. Taking the spot next to Yoongi you hooked your arm in his and stared the princess down earning a glare.
"And this is my son and heir to my throne, Prince Chul."
"It's a pleasure to meet you both." You bowed to be respectful, but the way Chuls eyes wandered over your body made you want to cringe.
"Now that introductions are out of the way how about we finally eat dinner?"
Dinner was fairly boring, chatter only between the king and Yoongi were heard around the table until Chul spoke up.
"So Y/N, you must be happy to be living every peasant girls dream. You're a real rags to riches story you know." You stayed silent as Chul spoke. He seemed like the type to enjoy listening to himself talk.
"I would never have chosen a poor village girl to be my wife but that is the difference between me and you, Yoongi. I have better taste."
"You'll do well to not insult my wife." Yoongis words were calm but you could sense the undertone of harshness in his voice and you're sure Chul did too.
"Now children. None of this back and forth at the dinner table. I'm sure my son is just making conversation. It's not every day a prince marries someone so... simple." Hand gripping the fork tightly you stayed silent as you ate your food. They were just trying to get a rise out of you. They wanted you to throw a fit. They thought you were some ill mannered poor village girl but you were used to being seen and not heard. They wouldn't get to you no matter how hard they tried.
"Come Prince Yoongi. Let's discuss business matters in my office. Your wife may join us but I expect the business to stay between us men." There it was. It wasn't just you being poor, but because you were also a woman. People like Ju-Won thought the world would do better if woman were silent and bowed to a mans every will.
You followed Yoongi into a spacious room where a desk and some chairs sat. You both sat down at the same time, after Ju-Won did of course. He may be disrespectful but the two of you were not.
"So, now that you are to be king I think it would benefit us to strike a deal."
"What kind of deal?"
"Your kingdom has control over most of the countries trade routes. I want my people to have untaxed access through these routes to sell their wares. The money made from your routes will be sectioned off and you may have a quarter of it."
"I don't see how this benefits me in any way. The money I make from taxing traders is more than a quarter of the profits your people make selling their wares."
"Ah but if they had untaxed access they would make more. Plus it would really be a shame to make an enemy of me. What after you denied the marriage to my daughter and married this." Ju-Won gestured to you and your anger flared.
You felt yourself getting hot in the face at his words. Not only was he basically attempting to get Yoongi to give up money for his kingdom but he had insulted you twice this evening. You had enough of it.
"The deal would only be worth Prince Yoongis time if he received at least seventy five percent to make up for money lost through taxes and then some." The room went silent as you spoke up. You turned to Yoongi who had a shit eating grin on his face as he looked from you to Ju-Won.
"Prince Yoongi. I expect you to teach your wife to hold her tongue in a man's presence."
"I expect you to show my wife more respect than you have this evening."
"Woman are not deserving of respect until they have earned it."
"You know what. I have a deal for you. I stop all trade to and from between our kingdoms for good and you can find someone else to ally with." Ju-Won sat baffled as Yoongi stood and pulled you along with him out of the office. You would be lying if you said seeing him stand up to the man didn't make your body heat up. You loved the confidence he radiated.
In the car, Yoongi made a phone call to Namjoon explaining the situation before turning off his phone and sitting back sighing.
"Should I have kept my mouth shut?" Yoongi shook his head snd smiled lightly at you.
"No, what you said was true. He was trying to take money from me. You're my wife, my soon to be queen and you're as much in charge as I am." His thumb caressed the back of your hand as he stared at you.
"Plus seeing you speak up against him was the sexiest thing Ive ever seen." That got you blushing.
You looked away out of the window into the darkness beyond the vehicle. It was late and you wouldn't make it back home until the wee hours of the morning. But you were happy and that was all that mattered.
