Season 2 - Chapter 3

"It feels so weird that I need this..." you mumbled as you watched Scar wrap the bandage around your arm. Your wound was still hurting, but at least the bleeding had stopped by now. Well, mostly, at least...

The white fabric immediately got tainted with your blood as it touched your skin.

"Welcome to our world," the huge firelight chuckled and you smiled at him, though the nervous knot in your stomach quickly painted a shameful frown on your face. "So when are you going to tell him about it?" Scar asked, nodding towards your arm as he sat down next to you in the dark premise.

You were both sitting in one of the rooms built around the curving walls of the firelight hideout. It was used as sort of a warehouse for anything that could be useful around the base. You sighed tiredly as you leaned your elbows against your thighs and buried your face into your palms.

"I don't know..." you groaned against your hands. "I just... He has so much to worry about already," you finally gathered your strength to look into the vivid, green eyes of Scar that seemed like they were glowing, even in the semi-darkness. He was searching your face and when you said the last sentence he knowingly nodded.

"Besides, I know this will pass," you shrugged as you looked at your wrapped-up arm. "I think..." you added unsure.

"I suggest you don't postpone this for too long," Scar nodded toward your wound and you knew he was right. You didn't even plan to. You just wanted to wait until you at least stopped coughing up that... something... that was inside you.

"I know..." you sighed as you stood up and Scar followed your example, following your frame as you stepped to the door of the little room. "I will tell him soon, well, after we find out what's wrong with the tree definitely," you said as you reached for the door.

When you opened it up, it was dark outside already and the lamps hanging over the tree were getting lit up. You sighed as you breathed in the pleasant, warm air, but then a single leaf fell in front of you, dancing on the light evening breeze and your heart sank.

Scar was right. You should talk to Ekko, and you will. But not now. There were more important matters than whatever was going on with you.

You looked up at his window, seeing the light of an oil lamp lit in his room, and took a stray hoverboard, that was leaned against the wall not far from you, into your hands.

"Thanks, Scar..." You smiled at the huge firelight thankfully and he smiled back down at you, though you could see a tint of worry in his eyes.

"Anytime..." he started but then quickly corrected himself. "I mean, I hope you won't need my help for anything like this anytime soon..." he said and you chuckled.

You jumped onto the hoverboard, but you didn't direct it toward Ekko's room yet. First, you needed a jacket with which you could cover your arm... You went into your room first, which you'd been using less and less lately, feeling like some criminal as you looked through your small closet. When you found something that had long enough sleeves, you put it on and nervously hopped back onto the hoverboard to go and see Ekko.

He'd been with Heimerdinger the whole afternoon, probably sitting above heaps of leaves with the old scientist. You were curious to know if they found something that could help, and also excited to tell him that you were finally able to have a real conversation with Neo, as short as it was.

Your brother jumping to your throat was a detail that you'd leave out, of course...

You jumped in through his window and found him by his desk, tiredly massaging his temples. When he noticed your figure, the wrinkles between his brows immediately soothed. As you walked up to him, he reached his arms towards you and immediately hugged your waist when you got close enough to him to do so.
