Yami lay sprawled across her bed, looking like she'd been in the middle of an epic battle with her blankets. One arm was hanging off the edge, her pillow halfway on the floor, and her covers twisted around her like a cocoon. The soft light of early morning filtered through the curtains, but she was still deep in her dreams.
Suddenly, the shrill sound of her alarm shattered the peace.
*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*
Yami groaned, her hand flopping out from under the covers and blindly smacking the snooze button. But the alarm didn't stop. It blared louder. Annoyed, Yami grabbed the alarm clock and with a grunt of frustration, tossed it across the room. There was a *thud* as it hit the wall and went silent.
Her bed became a sanctuary once more. Yami pulled the covers back up to her chin and sighed contentedly, drifting back into her dreams.
But then—
"Yami!"
Her dad's voice boomed from the doorway. "Get up! Now!"
Yami groaned. "Dad, it's too early."
Her dad wasn't having it. He walked over, put both hands on the side of her bed, and gave it a firm shake. "You're fourteen now, Yami. You're not a kid anymore. Time to start carrying on the legacy!"
Yami barely stirred, still wrapped in the cocoon of sleep. "Ugh... five more minutes."
"You don't get it. You're going to be a Pokémon Trainer just like me," he said, his voice a mix of pride and urgency. He was a Pokémon Master from Galar, known for his skills and his close bond with his Pokémon, especially his partner, Garchomp.
Yami muttered something unintelligible, turning over to face the wall.
"Come on, Yami. We've talked about this."
Her dad sighed dramatically, running a hand through his hair. Garchomp, standing by the door, huffed in frustration as though it had heard this same battle countless times before.
But her dad wasn't giving up so easily. With a swift motion, he yanked the covers off her. "No more sleeping in, Yami. Time to rise and shine."
