The next day, Hestia sat up from her bed and gets out. She arranged and folded her blanket before pulling the curtains as the sunlight shone inside her room. From where her apartment is, she can see the Center standing out at the far North of the city and remembered that today was the day a meeting is going to be conducted between her and Y/n after the incident yesterday. She threw all aggravating thoughts out of her head and simply readies herself before going to the Center for the meeting in the afternoon.
Hestia left her apartment an hour later and meets up with Melissa who was with her Twain partner, Azrael, an A ranked Esper from the Center. Hestia reached the cafeteria where she and Melissa agreed to meet up and walks inside and was greeted by the waiters whom she greeted back. She made her way towards them and sat opposite to them.
“Tia, how are you?” Melissa smiled.
Hestia smiles back at her. “I’m fine.” She answered before nodding at Azrael. “It’s nice to see you again, Azrael.” She greeted the Esper.
Azrael was a red haired Esper with mismatched colored eyes with his right eye being a dark brown color and his left eye being a silver color. He had sharp Asian features with a tall and lean muscular build although Hestia knew that all of the Espers were attractive as they were engineered that way after meeting Y/n, she couldn’t possibly find anyone else like him who was the epitome of beauty. Hestia shook her head and told the waitress what she would order.
Melissa noticed her dazed manner and frowned. “Tia, are you okay?” she questions, “you can just tell the Center that you’re still tired after guiding Michael from yesterday.”
Hestia frowned when she heard his codename. “His name is not Michael, Mel.” She told her, “His name is Y/n.” she informed.
Melissa looks at her, surprised. “O-Oh, right… Y/n.” she nodded, hesitantly.
“So, it was you who have guided him when he was in a corruption state, yesterday.” Azrael spoke and Hestia looked at him.
“Yeah.” Hestia answered. “I did.”
“Do you not feel any side effects after guiding him?” Azrael asked.
“No,” Hestia answered, her eyebrows furrowing in slow confusion. “Why’d you ask?”
“The Center, for a long time, have been trying their best to look for a compatible Guide for our Sire in order for him to be sent to the Gates without the worry of him constantly on the verge of Corruption.” Azrael explained. “However, each Guide that was sent to pair him were constantly failures with each compatibility level being 0% that is why the Center decided to develop other means in order for our Sire to maintain his stable levels.”
“But why do they need to do that?” Hestia asked.
“Tia,” Melissa spoke and Hestia looked at her. “You see… Y/n is the first ever bio-engineered Esper.”
Hestia’s eyes widened. “W-What…?”
“During the rupture at 2XXX, Espers were lacking in both number and firepower so the government have decided to create an Esper that is capable of eliminating reapers all on his own.” Melissa explained, “That is how the Center was created and how Y/n came to be but…”
“But what?” Hestia questioned.
“Our Sire is a failed experiment unlike us.” Azrael answered.
“Azzy!” Melissa exclaimed, worried and concerned for her friend’s reaction.
“Although, he may be the first bio-engineered Esper that doesn’t mean he was a success. His DNA is unstable because of his powers and because of it, he was never made public unlike us, his children.” Azrael explained. “We stemmed from his DNA that were modified in hopes of not becoming unstable just like him although our Sire is unstable, he was only kept alive for his DNA to engineer more Espers until there were more than enough to ensure that Humanity is safe from the reapers and once that happened, our Sire and us that his children are to be disposed of.”
