'I wish we could stay- just as however we are'

They were friends... two kids who found comfort in each other's arms. They were restricted- family, status, and mainly- grades.

Top honors students can never be friends... People whispered but behind the perfect image of a topper hides just a lonely kid who wants to meet up with the expectations set by their family and teachers.

The boundaries they set with people around them leading to being misunderstood and mainly- being called a selfish jerk.

It didn't matter... at least for them. They had each other's backs.

Only rule for their friendship- "You did your best, I did mine." People were constantly comparing but for them- it was just another wind passing by.

They were just friends after all. Two kids, two teenagers who wanted someone to understand them.

World apart but a bridge they made of trust was much more powerful than the negative comments like waves trying to break that bridge.

Maybe- it was because they had someone who had to go through same or maybe- they just didn't want the other to go through it alone.

Friendship... really the purest bond right?

2016.

"Nani- WE ARE LATE!." Morning started with a 16 year old's screams, that would wake up the whole neighbor but by now, they had started wearing earbuds to have their peaceful sleep.

Just then, a hand came stopping any more words to utter- firm yet so soft as he signaled him to stay quiet.

Nani looked around then let out a relief sigh. "Stupid! I told you not to yell at here. If my dad finds out about it- we are so dead." He whisper yelled but a glimpse of sadness with the mention of his father.

Sky- being pressed with the hands whined, with his attempts to break through the strength and while Nani noticed it, he chuckled and let go.

"I told you not to do that. I hate when you press my lips like that." He pouts.

Nani looking at the guy who is just a month younger- ruffled his hairs messing it up as the boy whines more with the touch.

"Stop." He muttered pushing away his hands.

"OkOk." He surrendered laughing- taking a step back. "Only because you are younger." He teased.

Sky gasped. "Its just a month!"

Nani shrugged. "Whatever."

Before he could protest, a voice came yelling at them. "Nani- who are you talking with since so long? You are going to be LATE!"

They both look at each other before letting a sly grin, both whispering. "Race you."

The morning had just started for them, full of laughter and their heavy breathing sounds all over.

Both were 16. 11 years to their friendship, and 11 years of them hiding each other from family. They were restricted but that didn't stop them. Nothing was important- as long as they had each other.

As both of them reached the school gate with Sky leading and Nani trying to catch his breathe, with a teasing look- Sky stuck his tongue out. "This happens when your legs are small."
