Funasticks: Hii everyone and Welcome to the first episode do Ready, Set, Ask! If you guys don't know me, I'm Funasticks or Funa.
So let's not waste any time and welcome today's talented author.... Matsya!
Thank you for taking out some of your time to join us!
Would you mind introducing yourself to our new readers?Matsya: Hi, my name is Matsya, I'm a fairly new writer, joining Wattpad in January. My zeal for writing was primarily born out of a frustration, where I couldn't find a certain fanfiction story, feeling mine as unique. And the rest is history
Funasticks: That's amazing! So first things first— how has your journey on Wattpad been so far? And what's been your favorite part of the journey?
Matsya: Well, my journey has been great, I made new friends and even became part of a community, something I didn't even know existed. I had my highs and lows, but certainly the best part has been learning how to become better at writing and the deep discussions I have had with my readers.
Funasticks: Aww! I hope your journey continues to be awesome in the future as well!
So how did you find your way into writing?Matsya: As I said, I have been reading Wattpad fanfics and even some original free stories for a while now, but around January, I was overtly frustrated by the lack of a certain trope, an elder sister to the Pandavas. Knowing my idea to be unique and taking a leap of faith, I chose to publish the first chapter...and at first, the response was small. But that never deterred me, because my focus was on writing that story for me, but it gave me such happiness to have other people connect with me.
Funasticks: That's awesome! I love your confidence and your faith in yourself!
If you had to describe your writing style in just one sentence, what would you say?Matsya: I'd say 'True'
Funasticks: Is there a reason why?
Matsya: As I said, I have been reading Wattpad fanfics and even some original free stories for a while now, but around January, I was overtly frustrated by the lack of a certain trope, an elder sister to the Pandavas. Knowing my idea to be unique and taking a leap of faith, I chose to publish the first chapter...and at first, the response was small. But that never deterred me, because my focus was on writing that story for me, but it gave me such happiness to have other people connect
Funasticks: I admire you for your confidence! I really do. I love that you don't care about anything anyone says, if you know you are correct. Tell us...
Do you ever find yourself getting lost in research for historical details? What's the coolest fact you've stumbled upon?Matsya: Getting lost in research is something every STEM student can relate to, and it's what happened to me when I was writing my story. For instance, my story Seven in A World was the one where I dove deep into research and found out that there exists something like forms of a flame, which is so astounding, because flames are usually only something one believes to be one dimensional, but it is so diverse with it seven forms, seven tongues of the flame. It was what made me so intrigued.
Funasticks: Wow that's an amazing fact! Short romances—what's your secret to making them feel so impactful?
Matsya: I'd say, short romances must be short and crisp. Like, they should be so sweet, and to the point as well as being intense, a true romance is born of feelings where it can be relatable and one sided love is one of the most relatable aspects we all have seen other than that, true love is the basis of a good romance, and in my eyes, you cannot have love without respect, so, in any romance, the leads must respect each other
