Kiara Chopras parents are extremely close with the Larusso family, Daniel encouraged Kiara to do karate from a young age and she agreed, then her and Sam became best friends through their parents and passion for karate.
After Mr Miyagi's death, Daniel stopped teaching Sam and Kiara karate and went on a hiatus. Kiara's family saw Kiara's potential and decided to get her a private sensei to help mentor her in her karate, she went on to win 1 All valley championship in her first year of high school.
Then, after Johnny opened up his dojo, Cobra Kai, Kiara's parents refused to let her join as Daniel had a long rivalry with him, then Daniel eventually opened Miyagi Do back up again and Kiara's parents let her join, ever since then she has been loyal to Miyagi Do with no distractions, by distractions I mean Kiara has remained single and other than Sam, tries to generally not get close to people as she is afraid they'll distract her from her goal, winning. Kiara can't accept failure whatsoever.
Ever since Kiara's grandpa died when she was in her second year of middle school, Kiara tends to keep herself distanced from people. As she is afraid of getting too close to someone, just to lose them. But she did have a 2 and a half year relationship with a boy called Michael from 8th grade to 10th grade, but she broke up with him, as she was afraid she was falling in love with him. She gets along with everyone in her dojo well, specifically Sam, Miguel, Robby, Devon Demetri and Tory.
Kiara was offered immediately to be the girl's captain for the Sekai Takai, but she declined as she feels like she doesn't have the capability to lead a team, she's more of a follower than one to give instructions. So, instead she watched Sam and Tory have to compete in their fight, but it didn't go well as Daniel didn't let Tory fight. Kiara messaged and called Tory so many times but all her calls went to voicemail and her messages were left on read. Sam was given the captain role as Tory was uncontactable (is that a word?), with no Tory, Hawk was able to come to the Sekai Takai.
