The bell rings at 11:05 like always, signalling it is time for lunch. Letting out a quiet sigh and as always I stand up with my lunch box in my left hand and my water bottle in the other. My messy blond hair hangs messily from my head but most of it is hidden by my grey hoodie. As we walk out of the dull classroom I glance around looking at all of the other students with friends, all happy and laughing. I can't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. Why do they get a normal life? Deep down I know it's my fault I am alone, I know most of the other kids find me weird, almost creepy.
I make sure to keep my head down as the class walks to lunch, I try to be as inconspicuous as ever. The last thing I want is for London and Le to see me. A hand reaches onto my shoulder, I glance down and let out a quiet sigh as soon as I see the familiar black ring... London's black ring. Too late... A different hand spins me around and pulls down my hood. Before I can react I get pulled into a janitor's closet.
Finally my head stops spinning and lets me look around, just as I expect I see London- A taller girl with light blond hair that was fully brushed and in a high ponytail at her head.- and I see her boyfriend Le. Le has dark brown hair in a very basic bitch looking hair cut. Like always London has her classic smirk on her face and the mischievous glint in her eye.
"Look at that Le, we found a stray Zyrin just looking to be put in his place," She snickers, casting a glance at Le. Le nods along as always, he never is the one to make the first move, it is always London.
I clench my jaw from London's words, she just knows how to get under peoples skin. London takes a step closer to me with Le following her very closely. "What's wrong? Feeling a little... orphaned?" She sneers, her voice dripping with fake sympathy. "Oh, wait. You always are."
I clench my hands as she speaks, she knows I am adopted.. She doesn't know what happened to my real family though. If she did she would never make jokes like that.
Soon she was pretty much pushing me into the cold wall of the dark closet. Her hand reaches into her pocket and pulls out her switchblade. A blade I know too well, I feel as if I know every single part of the blade. I have seen it too many times. She slowly raises the blade to my wrist for what feels like the one millionth time in the past three years I have been at this school.
Something inside of me clicks into place, an eerily cold, calm feeling fills me. Deep inside the back of my mind I recognise this feeling from 10 years ago, the night my parents house burnt down. My fear melts away leaving only a feeling of anticipation and excitement, part of me misses this feeling.
My hand moves forward quickly and I grab London's hand so I have control over the blade. Using my other hand I start to pry the blade out of her hand. The look of surprise on her face made me feel a strange sense of power deep down. Le starts to move forward to try and help London keep hold of the blade but it is too late, I have the blade now.
Its leather handle feels strangely correct in my hands, I step away from London and I cast Le a threatening glance, warning him not to come too close to me. London backs away from me slightly, I can not help but smile. Seeing them so afraid after 3 years of terrorising me.
"Zyrin... Give me back my blade," London says in a shaky voice, she is obviously trying to sound intimidating but very much failing. In my eyes I can only see a scared little child whose act of perfection is finally failing.. Very much like the look I saw in my fathers eyes that night back when I was 6.
I smirk as I hear her plead for her blade, I only have one thing running through my mind: You better sleep with one eye open London. I take a step towards her then cast Le another warning glance. "London, I suggest not walking home alone tonight..." At that I put the switchblade into my pocket then start my way out of the room, specifically making sure to push London.
As I leave the room I can see London look over at Le, she looks scared and I can tell that Le is fully in shock, he obviously does not expect this coming from me. Well they know nothing about me... nothing on how my parents died... no one but me knows the truth.
The rest of the school day passes like a blur, before I know it I am standing up to make my way home.. Or at least tell people I am going home. I start my trek out of school and towards my home. I see the familiar two kids walking ahead of me, they are my neighbours. I never make a point to talk to them, I don't make friends too easily. Instead of turning onto the street I am meant to, I turn off at the park, standing in the shadows, waiting for London.
After a few minutes of waiting I hear the voices of London and Le walking down the street. "You should let me walk you home London..." Le mutters, glancing up and down the street.
"Fuck off Le, I love you and all but Zyrin is full of shit, he was obviously lying. He does not have it in him to kill me," She replies harshly but still pats his shoulder.
He sighs quietly and moves his hand over to her neck then mutters,"Fine... Don't get yourself killed, I need you for the science project tomorrow." They leaned in for a quick kiss then London moves away.
"Bye Le, see you tomorrow,"
At that Le starts walking to his driveway. I can't help but smile, now I know his address. I pull out my phone quietly and open a new note then quickly type: Le- 1956 Chamber Ave. After typing that I slip my phone back into my pocket. Le closes his door and London starts walking away alone. Perfect.
She walks away to her home, she opens the door revealing a modern style living room and her parents and little brother sitting on the floor playing with cars. Inside I feel a twinge of anger, how can she have such a nice life when all she does is hurt people?
As soon as she enters the house and closes the door I pull back out my phone. I quickly type again: London- 1996 Chamber Ave. Then I stand up and calmly start my way home, my mind is buzzing with ways to trick her into going to the park tonight. I know where she lives... Everything is working out perfectly...
