The forest seemed to grow still, the dark creatures momentarily pausing as if the earth itself was mourning. The girls stood frozen for a long moment, unable to move, unable to process what had just happened.
"Nikki..." Evie whispered, her voice breaking. "She saved us..."
"We have to finish this," Immy said, her voice raw with emotion. "We can't let her sacrifice be in vain."
Sophie clenched her fists, her body shaking with rage and grief. "We will. I swear we will."
The girls formed a circle around Nikki's still body, their grief mingling with a fierce, burning resolve. Nikki's sacrificewould not be in vain. They would finish what they had started. For her.
The shadow beasts were no longer a threat. Now, there was only one thing left to do: reach the heart of the forest—and stop the ancient evil before it could destroy everything.
