Ruby POV-
Hey, I'm Ruby. College student by day, party animal by night. I'm that girl who turns heads when I walk in, not because I try, but because I just don't care. Life's too short to stress over grades or drama-I'd rather spend my time chasing dreams, dancing through nights, and keeping my vibe untouchable. You can catch me in ripped jeans, killer boots, and a "don't mess with me" attitude. Oh, and yeah, I'm a baddie, but don't let that fool you-I've got a heart under all this confidence. Maybe.
Fred POV-
Hey, I'm Fred. Well, I was Fred, but now I'm more of a... ghost. Don't freak out-it's not so bad. I can't touch anything, but I still feel things, you know? Most people don't notice me, which is fine-I'm used to it. But some can see me, and when they do, I try to help however I can. That's kinda my thing. I'm not here to haunt anyone; I just want to do some good while I'm still... around. Guess you could say I'm a ghost with a heart.
Ruby POV-
It was just another day at college, and as usual, I was rushing through the hallway when I tripped, and my books went flying everywhere. I sighed, crouching down to pick them up when, out of nowhere, a hand reached out and passed me one of the books.
"Here," a voice said softly.
I looked up and saw him-a guy I'd never seen before, with this calm, gentle expression. Something about him felt... different.
"Uh, thanks," I said, brushing my hair out of my face.
"No problem," he replied, smiling, before standing up. "I'm Fred."
"Ruby," I said, giving a quick nod. Before I could ask anything, he was already walking away, blending into the crowd.
I shrugged it off and went about my day.
Fred POV-
The first time I saw Ruby, she was scrambling to pick up her books in the middle of the hallway. I don't know why I stepped in to help-it just felt right.
When she looked up at me, she smiled, and for a moment, the whole world felt... lighter. "Thanks," she said, like it was the most normal thing in the world.
But to me, it wasn't. There was something about her-her energy, her presence-that felt like sunlight after years of clouds.
I didn't know much about her, but in that small moment, I knew one thing: she made me feel alive in a way I hadn't felt in a long, long time.
Ruby POV-
It started happening all the time. Everywhere I went, there he was-Fred.
I'd be grabbing coffee, and he'd be in line behind me. "Morning, Ruby," he'd say with that calm smile.
"Morning, Fred," I'd reply, raising an eyebrow. "Do you just live here or something?"
He'd laugh. "Maybe."
Then I'd see him at the library. "Didn't take you for the study type," I teased, spotting him at a table.
"Guess we have that in common," he shot back, grinning.
And at lunch, he'd just casually walk by. "You eat here too?" I asked one day.
"Only when the company's good," he said, giving a little shrug.
It was weird how often we ran into each other, but he never felt... pushy. Just there. And honestly? I didn't mind it. Something about Fred felt easy.
At first, Fred was just... there. Everywhere I went, he'd pop up with that easy smile and calm energy. It was impossible not to notice.
