Héctor
I'm finally in my last year of high school. You know what really sucks about school? The goddamn people.
I've managed to keep my sexuality on the "down low". Although, being gay, there are some hints that no one can stop.
I'm gay...No one knows exactly besides my best friend Paula and my other best friend Samuel, who is also gay but he has a boyfriend. My parents suspect, but they don't say nothing. They really wouldn't care, I think.
So, if you're wondering, I haven't had a boyfriend yet. Yes, shaun me, I haven't. Not that any of the other boys aren't cute, I'm just too shy to even start a conversation. Call me cliche , but I feel more confortable around girls. During the break, I stay with girls; during excursions, I stay with girls; if I hang out, I do it with girls...The good thing, is that they don't mind that I go with them, in fact, they love it because they say I'm very funny.
Today was another Tuesday...Julius history exam day. I've been studying all night, but I'm having a terrible time. I hate history. I'm going to be suspended. Paula has helped me a little but there is no way. She says I don't make an effort to study and that I spend all day glued to my phone. That's not true! Well...maybe, just maybe.
-Paulaaa-I shouted in the hallway when I saw my friend coming -How are you doing?
-Very well indeed- she says.
-Well, me too- I respond. "I'm lying, I don't know anything."
-You little liar- she says while giving me a friendly elbow in the ribs.
That makes me scream like a chicken with rage. Just then, Julius appears with an angry face and gives me a glare.
-Hector, does this behavior seem normal to you? Please, you're in 2nd of Bachillerato- He says-Let's see, what's wrong with you that you let out that scream?
At that moment I turn red and with a thin voice I say: -Nothing.
-Well, if nothing happens to you, don't do anything.
After this, he turns around and prepares to open the door to begin his exam.
Paula sat in the front while I sat a little further back. My classmates arrived and took their seats. Julius started handing out the exams and just when he finished, someone came into class.
He was Hugo, the most mysterious boy in the school. He was a not very tall dark-skinned boy with an intense look. Together with his twin brother, they drove all the girls crazy. They hung out with the popular people in class: all smokers and canis. But Hugo had something that set him apart from the rest. Maybe it was that mysterious aura that surrounded him or the way he had of smiling superiorly or...
-Hugo, you're late-Julius said, breaking me out of my thoughts.-Please sit down.
Passing him, he sat in the only place that was free... next to me. I suddenly became more nervous than I already was. Let's see, I didn't like Hugo, he just seemed cute to me, and Paula knew it, so when Hugo sat down, she gave me a mocking smile.
The exam started, but the only thing I could concentrate on was his presence. "Shit Hector, concentrate, you're going to fail." I did what I could of the exam and when the bell rang everyone started to get up. I dropped my pen off the table and Hugo saw it. He sighed, bent down to pick it up and gave it to me.
-Th-thank you-I say shyly. He looks at me and it seems like the world stops for a moment. Then he shrugs his shoulders, turns around and leaves class.
-Paula, tell me you've seen it too- I say excitedly once we're outside.
-Yeah. Hugo, as mysterious as always.
