3rd person pov

Barry stayed silent sitting against the bed with a blade in his hand. One. Two. Three.. One for being a disappointment to his mother another for just being himself and another just for fun. Barry looked at his red covered arm and smiled. Soon he heard footsteps gradually getting louder as the sound gets closer Barry rushes to the bathroom and puts his bloody arm under warm water. Then he quickly wrapped his arm his bandages and went back to his room to greet the person coming.

His mom opened the door and screamed at Barry. "You brat! How dare you go outside without permission!" *she slapped him harshly* Go back to finishing your assignment. This was always happening in the Benson family. Barry always got beatings and went through intense pain everyday.He was home schooled and when he got a question wrong he was punished with a beating. His latest assignment was on Michael Bee Jackson, a famous singer and his idol.

His mother left after a few hits and went to the bar. Barry spent his time sleeping since he was up all night yesterday cutting himself. After a few hours his mom came home drenched in the smell of alcohol. She was drunk. She waddled up to Barry's room and kicked him awake. "WAKE UP DISGRACE!" Her words slurring as she spoke. She continued screaming at him as she was kicking him.

Barry snuck out that night to try to go for a walk. Or he tried to. His mom caught him and just before he got to leave to door his mom grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. Barry looked at her with wide eyes. Fear evident on his face. His mom hook his collar to a hook on the wall and went to the kitchen to go get a butcher knife. She came back soon after and slashed across Barry's stomach. Immediately, blood started to pour out forming a puddle on the floor. Barry was gasping for air as the air in his lungs were spilling out.
