"Everyday's Dilemma"
Haerin found herself in a classroom introducing herself to a group of high school boys. It was her first day as a teacher, and she was a bit nervous, but excited to start this new chapter in her life.
As she looked at the boys in front of her, she noticed a familiar face – Min Yoongi. He was sitting at the back, his expression brooding and serious, his gaze fixed on her.
Haerin felt a jolt of surprise and recognition as their eyes met, her heart suddenly thumping faster against her chest. She quickly tried to compose herself, but the sight of him here, in her classroom, brought back all the memories and feelings she had tried to bury.
She smiled politely, trying to ignore the way her body reacted to his presence. “Hello,” she greeted the class, her voice steady.
"My name is Kim Haerin," she began, her eyes still catching Yoongi's occasional glance. "And I'll be your new maths teacher." The class was relatively quiet, the students mostly half-asleep or absorbed in their phones. But Yoongi's gaze was unwavering, his dark eyes studying her with an intensity that made her skin tingle.
She continued with her introduction, listing her qualifications and her past teaching experience. Her mind, however, was only half focused on her words. The other half was occupied with thoughts of Yoongi, of the memories he brought back. She tried her best to appear professional, unaffected by his presence.
As she looked over the students, her gaze occasionally met his. His expression was a blank mask, betraying none of his thoughts or feelings. But his eyes, his eyes were intense and searching, as if he was trying to remember something, as if he too was struggling to remain unaffected by her presence.
The rest of the class passed in a blur. Haerin went through her lesson plan on autopilot, her mind occasionally drifting to thoughts of Yoongi. She could feel his gaze on her, the weight of his attention, even if he didn’t speak a word.
As the class came to an end, the students slowly gathered their things and left. Haerin stayed and packed up her own materials, trying to calm her racing heart. She knew Yoongi was still there, waiting in his seat.
She felt a mixture of anticipation and dread as she finally gathered the courage to look at him. He was watching her, his eyes still locked on her. He didn't say anything, just looked at her with that same intense gaze, his expression unreadable.
The silence between them was thick, almost tangible. Haerin could hear the sound of her own heart beating in her chest, her hands trembling slightly as she gripped her pen tighter. She wanted to say something, anything, but the words stuck in her throat, lodged by the storm of emotions she was feeling.
Finally, Yoongi spoke, his voice deep and quiet. "noona,” he said, a hint of mockery in his tone. "I didn't know you would be the new maths teacher here."
Haerin managed to plaster a polite smile on her face, despite the shiver that went down her spine at his words. "Yes," she replied, her voice steady. "I just started today. How's your mathematics lately, Yoongi?"
Yoongi let out a snort, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Still as bad as ever, I guess," he said, leaning back in his chair. "But maybe you can help me with that now, huh, noona?"
Haerin tried to ignore the way her stomach fluttered at his words, the way his smirk made her heart skip a beat. "Well," she said, keeping her tone neutral, "that's what I'm here for, isn't it? To help students improve in their mathematics."
Yoongi's smirk widened. "Lucky me, then," he said, his eyes never leaving hers. "I'll be looking forward to our lessons, noona."
As Yoongi left, Haerin let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding. His presence had stirred up a whirlwind of emotions within her, ones she thought she had buried deep down.
