"Lunacy"
Haerin sat on the edge of her bed, her mascara smudged and fresh tears staining her cheeks. She felt like a mess both physically and emotionally. She couldn't believe that everything had turned out like this.
As she sat there, her thoughts turned to the girl, jihyeon. She despised her. She hated her beautiful face, her confident demeanor, and most of all, her obvious hold over Yoongi.
It was unfair. How could this girl, who didn't even know Yoongi, have such a strong effect on him? It made no sense. It was as if he was under some kind of spell, and the girl was the witch that cast it.
Haerin buried her face in her hands, the anger and hurt building up inside her.
She thought about all the time she had spent with Yoongi, all the moments they had shared, the laughs they had, the arguments they had. Weren't all those moments enough to make him see her? Surely he had to have some kind of feelings for her. Something had to have clicked in his brain by now... right?
Haerin let out a sniffle, her shoulders shaking as the sobs threatened to overtake her again.
She felt like a fool, for believing that Yoongi might have feelings for her. For having hope that he would finally see her for who she was. It was all so pointless. He was smitten with this perfect stranger, and she was stuck here, weeping over a boy who would probably never look at her twice.
Haerin heard the sound of footsteps outside her room, followed by Yoongi's familiar voice calling out to her. She quickly tried to wipe away her tears and compose herself, though her face was probably still a mess.
Yoongi called out again, his voice carrying through the closed door. "No- noona? Are you in there?"
Haerin took a shaky breath and tried to sound composed when she answered. "Y-yeah... I'm here."
She could hear Yoongi shifting outside the door, clearly preparing to enter. She knew she must look a mess, with tear-streaked cheeks and smeared mascara, but there was no way to avoid him now.
The door creaked open, and Yoongi's head poked into the room, looking cautious and concerned. His eyes widened when he saw her sitting on the edge of the bed, her eyes red and swollen from crying.
"No- noona..." he said, his voice gentle and concerned. "What's wrong? Are you okay?"
Haerin tried to force a smile, but it probably came out as more of a grimace. "It's nothing," she said, her voice hoarse. "I'm just... having a bad day."
Yoongi didn't seem convinced. He stepped further into the room, closing the door behind him. "It doesn't look like 'nothing,'" he said, his eyes still fixed on her. "You've been crying, noona."
Haerin felt the tears threaten to well up again at his gentle tone. It was so unfair. Here he was, looking at her with concern in his eyes, yet he was still completely blind to her feelings. She wanted to scream, to shake him, to make him see that she was right in front of him, suffering in silence.
"It's just... some stuff," she said, vague and evasive. She didn't want to expose herself like this, didn't want to show him how much it was all affecting her.
Yoongi didn't seem satisfied with that answer. He stepped closer to her, his eyes scanning her face closely. "What 'stuff'?" he asked, his voice low and gentle. "You can talk to me, noona. You know you can tell me anything."
Her heart clenched in her chest. Here he was, showing her all the kindness and concern in the world, and yet he still didn't see her the way she wanted him to. It was maddening. She wanted to reach out and shake him, to scream in his face, to make him understand. Instead, she just shook her head, the tears threatening to spill over again.
