Ashton's reckless nights caught up to him. He stumbled home, reeking of alcohol and smoke, to find his mother waiting.
Karen's eyes widened in horror. "Ashton, what's happened to you?"
Ashton shrugged, attempting to brush past her.
Karen blocked his path. "You're scaring me, Ashton. You're throwing away your future."
Ashton snarled, anger fueled by guilt. "You're one to talk, Mom. You're just as messed up as Dad."
Karen's face crumpled, and Ashton regretted his words.
The next morning, Ashton woke to a pounding headache and an empty house. A note on the kitchen counter read:
"Ashton, I've had enough. You need help. I've scheduled an appointment with a therapist. Be there at 2 PM. - Mom"
Ashton crumpled the note, feeling trapped.
At school, Lilith confronted him. "Ashton, I've been worried sick. What's going on?"
Ashton scoffed. "Nothing, Lilith. Just having fun."
Lilith's expression turned stern. "Fun? You call destroying yourself fun? I care about you, Ashton. Don't push me away."
Ashton's defenses faltered. Lilith's words struck a chord.
"I'm sorry, Lilith," Ashton said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know what's wrong with me."
Lilith's eyes softened. "Let's figure it out together."
Ashton nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope.
At 2 PM, Ashton sat in the therapist's office, fidgeting.
Dr. Lee, a kind-eyed woman, smiled. "Ashton, let's work through this together. Your mother is worried, and Lilith cares deeply about you. What's holding you back?"
Ashton took a deep breath, ready to confront his demons.
