John Dory, Spruce, Clay, and Floyd couldn't wait to get home from school because not only was it summer break, but also they were super excited to finally be able to spend more time with their youngest member of the family, Baby Branch.
Riding the school bus all the way home, the four older brothers were talking a mile in a minute, especially John Dory who had been talking about seeing Baby Branch all day, even in school.
John Dory: Isn't this exciting? We're going to be spending some time with Bitty B for the whole summer!
Spruce: YESSSS!! We are going to have a lot of fun!!
Clay: I can't wait!
Floyd: Me too! Just wait until we see Baby Branch.
Clay, Spruce, and John Dory: *in unison* AWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
Spruce: He's literally the cutest thing ever.
Clay: I KNOOOOOOOW!!!!
Floyd: And for us to spend the whole summer with him!? It's going to be lots of fun!
John Dory: So, true, my bro. So true.
Spruce: Oh my gosh, the bus has finally stopped!! WE'RE HOOOOOME!!!
Clay: Race you guys home!! *leaves*
John Dory: Hey, no fair!!!
Spruce: You got a head start!
Floyd: Heey! Wait for me! *runs behind them*
The four brothers zoomed through the path and all the way home to Grandma Rosiepuff's Pod. They entered the pod, greeting their grandmother.
Older Bros: Hi Grandma!!
Grandma Rosiepuff: Hey, there, my darlings. How was school?
Floyd: Good.
Clay: Great!
Spruce: It was fine.
John Dory: Boring to the extreme. Glad that we're on summer break. Where's Baby Branch?
Grandma Rosiepuff: In the nursery. I think he's about to wake up in any minute.
John Dory: That's great! Come on, bros, let's go see him!
The four brothers went into their bedroom, putting away their backpacks, and tossing them aside. They rushed into the bathroom to wash their hands, each wanting to finish first before the other, and they rushed into the nursery room to find one-week-old Baby Branch in the crib, waking up.
They surrounded his crib, cooing and smiling at the little bundle of joy who looked at them with curiosity eyes.
John Dory: Hey theeeeeere, Bitty B!
Baby Branch looked up at him with big, round eyes, and John Dory's heart melted.
Spruce: *speaks in a gentle voice* Hi, Branchy-wanchy! Did you miss us?
Baby Branch cooed and snuggled into his blanket, feeling loved.
Clay: What's up, buddy? You're looking handsome today!
Baby Branch giggled and kicked his legs, enjoying the attention.
Floyd: Heeey, Branchie-poo!
John Dory, Spruce, Clay: Branchie-poo!?!
Floyd: What? I thought it was a cute nickname. I was going to call him Branchy-bug, but that didn't fit him.
John Dory: Oh. Okaaay.
Floyd: Then I was going to call him Branchito, but I wasn't too sure about it, so Branchie-poo it is. Plus, I think he likes it.
Baby Branch let out a tiny laugh and waved his tiny hand, as if saying hello back.
The four brothers beamed with joy, happy to have such a precious little addition to their family, especially John Dory, who was grateful to be called the eldest of the brothers.
John Dory: Hello, Bitty B! You ready to get out of the crib?
Spruce: Oh, yes he is!
Clay: Come here, come here. *picks him up*
Floyd: Cutie, cutie, cutieeee!
They continued to coo and chat with Baby Branch, enjoying every moment with him.
