"Get him! Get him!" Joel yelled as the bandit flailed about. There was only so long Joel could ride this man like a bull.
Mavar had, oddly, pulled out a bell.
"What are you doing?!" Joel asked. "You ain't no bard!"
Ting.
The sound resonated through the air and... the bandit fell to his knees, and then on his face. Dead?
Huh.
"Are... are you a bard...?"
Mavar just grunted in response, feeling at his wrists. He could barely touch them without flinching.
"Let me have a look at those." Joel said. He was running low on favours Mother Nature would give him today, but he could spare one last healing spell. He felt his energy move from the palm of his hands to Mavar's wrists, which were broken seconds ago, now reknitting and solidifying under Joel's touch.
Nerith joined them. Joel looked over his shoulder and saw a charred body in the distance.
Lovely.
"You're not speaking in proverbs today." Mavar said.
"Be careful what you ask for, friend." Joel answered.
Mavar chuckled. "I ran into that one." He paused for a moment. "Did something happen during your walk last night?"
Nerith shuffled uncomfortably besides them. Joel remembered the wolf. The Venus Fly Traps. The fly. Then shook his head.
"If there's more dangers in this forest besides the Stormbloods, we ought to know about it, Joel." Mavar pressed.
"My demons are my own, my friend." He looked up to look into Mavar's hood. "If there was any immediate danger to our party, you have to trust that I wouldn't-"
Joel froze. There it was. Looking straight back at him from behind Mavar. Nerith and Mavar followed his gaze.
"Is... that wolf a friend of yours?" Nerith asked.
