I was sitting in a dark alley. I had no idea what had happened the previous 20 minutes. I remember going to the library and taking a short cut, when a tall man started following me. He came up behind me, grabbed me, and I passed out. When I woke up, about 20 minutes later, I was alone. In an alley. I got up and noticed that I had a big Band-Aid on my wrist.

"What?" I silently whispered. I guess that guy hurt me. Then covered it up. I wondered why? I continued on my way to the library and picked out a couple of books, then left. I decided to take a taxi back to my apartment, to avoid anymore 'accidents'.

"Hey, Beth, I'm home!" I yelled out as I came in the door. I set down my purse, and took off my shoes. I went over to the couch and plopped down. I immediately started reading one of the three books I got.

"Hey girl! Our show's gonna start in one hour!! I'm so excited!! How 'bout you?" she exclaimed. Then she noticed that I was reading.

"Uhhhh! You're already reading your book?!" she demanded, then she started looking at me weird.

"What are you looking at?" I asked.

"You're shaking. Are you okay?" Her eyes caught the Band-Aid on my wrist. "Oh my gosh! What happened?"

"Oh, this? It's nothing. I just fell and hit it. There's a bruise there. A big one. And I'm fine. Probably just shaking from excitement." I hoped my lie would work. I hadn't even looked at my skin under the patch. But that's probably what was there. A bruise. Right? Well we watched our show, and when it was over I went to my room, and closed the door behind me. I slowly stalked over to my bed and sat down. I lifted up my arm, and slowly pulled of the Band-Aid. What I saw was shocking. It looked like someone had bit me. But they had huge canines what the heck happened?

'Maybe I should try to find the person.'  I thought. I got up and put on a sweater, hoping that Bethany, my roommate, wouldn't question me further about the patch from earlier.

I walked to the living room to find Beth reading my book.

"Um, what are you doing?" I questioned, with a little bit of laughter in my tone.

"Oh. Um. Hi. I didn't see you there. I'm just checking to make sure this book is okay for you to read. Yeah, I'm not really reading it. More like... Skimming. Yup." She looked so nervous that I caught her reading my book. She has to wear glasses to read, so she never reads. Like, ever. Unless I'm not around. Then she'll steal my books. The only reason I know, is because I put the books in a certain order to see if they moved when I get back. They usually do. She's a book nerd just like me. I rubbed off on her big time.

"Yeah, sure. What are we doing for dinner? Pizza, spaghetti? Um, pop tarts? I really don't care."

"I ordered the usual pizza. It should be here in-" Then as if on cue, the doorbell rang. Beth ran over to the door and opened it. She must have been talking to the deliverer because she didn't come back for a couple minutes. When she turned the corner into the living room she had a blank look on her face and she wasn't holding a pizza.

"Beth, what's wrong? Where's the pizza?" She turned to me and gave me a blank smile.

"Your boyfriend Damon is here. He said to keep quiet when you see him."

"Okay..." That was weird. I don't have a boyfriend, and I don't know a Damon. I walked to the door, which was still slightly open, and I looked through the crack to see a slightly familiar man. He had dark brown hair and beautiful sea-blue eyes. He was looking around at the other apartment doors, where my neighbors decorated their front welcome mat with flowers or fishing poles. Then as if he heard a noise he looked directly at me. I pulled the door open and stood tall, while holding my mace behind my back.
