Abis POV

The soft strumming of a guitar filled my room as I hit play on one of Mom's albums, letting her song You Are in Love drift through the speakers. It was my favourite way to start the day a mix of calming and inspiring I hummed along as I brushed my hair, carefully pulling it into a high ponytail. Jake always said he loved my hair like this, and tonight was special. Our anniversary.

I glanced at the clock on my nightstand. Time to get moving. I grabbed my phone, sending Jake a quick text:

Abi "Good morning mi amor! Can't wait to see you tonight! 💖" Sliding my phone into my pocket, I made my way downstairs, the familiar sounds of life filling the house.

I stepped into the kitchen and immediately smiled. The smell of pancakes and bacon wafted through the air, and Mom was sitting at the island with her coffee, scrolling through her phone probably dealing with work, Dad was manning the stove, flipping pancakes with his signature focus.

Abi "Morning family!" I called, dropping my bag onto the counter.

Tay "Morning, sweetheart," Mom said, looking up with a smile.

TJ "Abi, finally! We thought you were never coming down."

Abi "well unlike you, TJ, I actually take time to look presentable."

TJ "Presentable? For what? Jake's already obsessed with you,"

I picked up a pillow from the nearby couch and chucked it at him. He caught it midair, grinning.

TJ "Nice try."

Abi "Oh, it's on," walking over to him but before I could retaliate, TJ jumped up, and the next thing I knew, we were circling the table. He grabbed a piece of bacon and waved it at me like a victory flag man I love these kinds of mornings filled with chaos

Trav"Children!" Dad called over the chaos, his voice full of humor. "You're not five anymore."

Abi "yea well tell him that!" I retorted, laughing as TJ darted out of my reach.

Mom finally intervened.

Tay "Both of you, sit down before I make you clean the kitchen."

We obediently sat, still grinning at each other. Dad set a plate of pancakes in the middle of the table, and I couldn't help but admire the perfect golden stacks.

Tay "So, what's on everyone's schedule today?" Mom asked as we dug in.

"Well I'm running a few errands, and then tonight is all about Jake. I've got the perfect anniversary surprise for him."

Trav "What kind of surprise?"

Abi "A commissioned painting," I said proudly. "It's of us after his AFC game win. He's going to love it."

Tay "Thoughtful as always," Mom said with a warm smile.

Abi "Unlike TJ," I teased, giving him a side glance.

TJ "Hey! I'm thoughtful," TJ protested, holding up his hands in mock defense. "Renee would agree."

Abi "That's debatable," I joked, earning a laugh from Dad.

Mom shook her head, clearly used to our antics.

Tay "And you, TJ?"

TJ "Gym with Dad, Then I'm hanging with Renee. Chill day."
