"Whoaaa, this is amazing, the ceilings are golden"
Evan said, walking through the hallway.
"We are here"
Theron said,
The guards opened the door to the throne room allowing no one other than the five in.
Once that door was shut closed behind them, they all looked at the empty throne in relief since the king was not there yet.
"I was so scared for a second there"
Rose sighed saying.
"Don't be scared rose, he is just a man after all"
Alex said.
"Let's remain quiet, the king might come in anytime"
Evan's words did work. But the silence only made them feel more stressful.
They have never seen the king before, but from all what thy have heard, he was one hell of an inhuman creature who knows nothing of mercy.
Being scared was the least they could feel.
In the midst of that, a footstep was heard coming from behind them, they could not even hear the door opening but they felt him coming in.
The five of them felt so heavy all of a sudden, it was not just fear, they were more than just a bunch of scared children, they felt like death was right there in the room with them.
Leo said nothing but kept walking towards his throne. With each step he took, their hearts felt weaker, and they could barely control the pace of their breathing.
Once the king sat down, the five of them were down on one knee as well.
'He is so scary, what is this feeling?'
Evan wondered to herself.
No one of them was able to look the king in the eye.
"Rose and Alex"
Once Leo called for their names, Bothe their bodies shivered.
"You both com from a small orphanage in Dravenhill which ran out of supplies, so you decided to join in to help the people in there"
The king pointed at one of the guards and so he did as he was asked to, he handed each of them a pouch full of golden coins.
They were both in a huge shock and did not know what to say.
"Mirai, you're from Kardia, you live with your father and with him getting old you want to support him"
Once Leo finished his sentence the guard did already hand him a pouch of golden coins too.
"Evan, your older sister is sick, and you want to take care of her, you can bring her to Kardia with this"
Leo said, and the guard did his job.
Her hands felt weak, the same hands that carried bigger bags could not believe that they were able to carry so much gold.
"Ans you, Venator, you have no family, I have no idea why you decided to come here, but you did a good job and stood out, so do whatever you want with your prize"
The king said.
Right after his little speech and once all of them felt a certain relief.
"You are my hunters, whatever I ask you to do, you shall do and you will be rewarded very generously"
His words were very steady and calm, unlike their hearts.
"But if you dare to betray me, I will kill you and everyone you love in a very horrible way"
They all tumbled at how angry his steady voice sounded, and even though no one of them dared to look up, they could still feel his glares.
"So do what you are asked, and do not disappoint me, Venator you are their leader, tonight you will be doing your very first mission, Theron will explain to you, DISMISSED"
Those were his last words before the five of them got up and quietly left.
Once the door behind them was shut, they were finally able to breath in some air.
The king's aura was unbearable. His presence was very intense and did stress them out.
But they could not care less, at last they made it and were off to yet a new start.
In the midst of their quiet celebration, Theron walked towards the five.
"You, come with"
He said, pointing at Evan who did follow him without asking any further questions.
They left in silence, she did not say a thing until they reached the palace's gate.
When the guards saw him coming, they opened it allowing him to leave the palace.
His horse was waiting for him.
The knight lent the girl his hand and the horse blusted into the forest heading towards Kardia's heart.
Wind moving her hair and touching her face, Evan has never felt so free before.
Even though she had no idea where he was taking her, she knew for sure that only good things are about to happen in her life.
Once they reached the first small village, they walked towards a small house with a nice garden.
There was a woman watering the plants.
When she saw the knight, she smiled greeting him,
"Welcome back, sir"
He nodded his head saying nothing, then looked at Evan,
"Go in first"
Theron said as he was taking care of his horse.
Without hesitation, Evan walked in after closing the door behind her.
It was such a beautiful house, yet a unique one.
There was no high tables, no chairs or counters and small glass door.
Her eyes immediately spotted the flower's vase, she could smell the scent of those tulips the second she walked in.
When she made it to the bedroom, she saw a very familiar face, her sister lying down the ground patting on a black cat's furr.
"DELIA!"
Evan screamed and ran, jumping into her sister's arms.
Delia was hugging her back just as tight as they both shed the tears of joy.
It was a very long warm hug, a quiet one that said a lot about their love for each other.
Meanwhile Theon peeked from the glass door at the heartwarming scene.
Even though he did not smile but he felt happy for the both them.
There where he stood outside, waiting for their moment to end...
