Daniela's POV

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

That day I separated myself from the others while on a run. Jason always had me on a short leash so when I got the chance I left on my own. I've always liked being by myself, even though the world had gone to shit, I loved the time I spent outside the walls.

I was following some tracks, didn't know what they were from but I kept tracing them.

The tracks led under a hill so I went a different way to see better. I made my way up the hill and could see what it was I was tracking, or who I was tracking.

I followed him while he seemed to be looking for someone. I walked within distance of him but kept quiet so he wouldn't hear me. He didn't see me for a good 10 minutes but I accidently stepped over a branch and he shouted for me to come out.

I came out with my hands high letting him know I was no danger to him. He demanded to know who I was and why I followed him. I immediately noticed he had a crossbow similar to my own.

I invited him back to the camp Jason wasn't to fond of it but he ended up really liking the extra help. Daryl, was his name.

It was hard to see him leave. It was hard to see him with her because, without wanting to I had fallen in love with Daryl Dixon. He was brave, strong, and a survivor.

He was reunited with his friends and family and most of all the girl he searched for, Beth.

Beth was the girl that Daryl was searching for when I first found him. He was in love with her and had finally found her. I couldn't help but be happy yet sad when they were finally reunited in our camp. They were happy and safe.

Until things got bad, we got attacked and even though we would never leave our home, Daryl and his friends decided to leave. I had to protect my family and fight, I watched him leave and it broke my heart.

We began to repair the walls that had suffered damage from the shooting. We worked hard and fast. Everyone in our camp was contributing. If we were to get attacked we would be prepared.

Its been a couple days since the shooting and since Rick and the others left. No one has left the camp, Jason my brother, and I decided that we wouldn't leave until we absolutely needed to.

Abraham helped a lot with the walls, he maintained a good system and sustained a clear watch at all times. The rest of us tried to keep our people calm, the kids and the other women, we needed to let them know they could still be safe at our camp.

So we waited, we waited for their return, who ever they were but it had been weeks now and there was no sign. Jason and I argued about going outside and finding them, "Maybe if we attack first..."

"What are you crazy?!" he interrupted. "We're not trying to start a war here!"

"But if we sit around....who knows what they have planned?!"

"Absolutely not! We are not going to go pick a fight with anyone, we are surviving and that's all that matters!"

"Jason we knew this day would come, when people out there would want what we have...." I said.

He paced back and forth in front of me as I sat on a tire in front of the house. He rubbed his forehead then his chin, thinking.

"You know I'm right." I finally said.

Jason turned to look at me, "About people wanting what we have, not about attacking first. We're not talking about it anymore. " and he walked away from me.

I think he was scared and I'm not going to lie but I was too.

I was scared that if we stayed here and waited for them to attack that they would bring all of there people, more than our people.

They wouldn't just take what we have they would kill us all and what would have surviving the apocalypse be if we were killed by living humans?

A week later I woke up and Abraham along with Jason and others were huddled at the gate. They looked like they were prepared to leave so I ran as fast as I could.

"Where are you going?!" I screamed.

"We're  going out." Jason answered.

"I'm going with you." I said. I planned on standing my ground, Jason was horrible to me he was controlling and didn't think that I could handle myself.

I fought with him until he let me go out with him and half of our men. The other half stayed back.

We thought if they attacked we didn't want our people to be left un protected plus, who knows they might have been watching us, waiting for us to leave to attack but, we planned on the worst things happening.

Only 3 of us went out first, I practically had to fight for my spot with Jason and Phillip. We split up in 3 one straight forward and two to the side. We had handguns and knives with us. We ran and secured the perimeter first. Then called for the others to come out.

Then we walked closed group with someone facing every direction, we wanted to secure the entire camp surroundings before going far.

Took us a long time but we found that there was no trace of the attackers. No one came out, didn't look like anybody had been close by in a long time.

Once we secured the perimeter we were able to feel a bit of relief and let our guard down. We decided to continue on our run and headed to the closest town. We still walked in formation just a lot faster now.

We had been to this town dozens of times before but when we arrived we were surprised with what we found.
