Benches

"Hey, did you take my helmet?"

I run after Aria in the parking lot, trying to dodge the other teens. It was already halfway through first quarter of    us being seniors at Oceanwake High. Aria and I were going to tryout for the school's football team. Our school allows both boys and girls on the teams, just depends if you're good enough. But tryouts are after school, which isn't until later.

I jump over a stack of books and a backpack. I duck under a couple holding hands, barely touching their legs. All of a sudden I hear,"Mr. Calien, To my office now!" Without turning I already know who it is. Mr.Rubio, our mean, bald math teacher/ counselor.

He practically scans the crowd of students for running kids. Which is why he knows me so well. I turn around to see a small kind of path made from all the other kids. Taking the walk of shame, I just follow Mr.Rubio in to the building. I look over my shoulder to see any sight of Aria, but I can't see her through the crowd of chatting kids. We'll have to finish our chase until next time.

Aria's P.O.V

I look behind me to see Eren following Mr.Rubio. My pace slows after I see the  traveling crowd of kids, waiting for everyone to pass me. The only thing I can hear is the heavy breathing coming from my mouth. I walk over to a bench underneath a tree, hoping for a good shady spot. My body collapses onto the bench, leaving a sitting spot for one person.

As I try to get comfy, I see a guy walking towards me. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, and a varsity football jersey already. This boy is well built so I'm guessing he's on the football team. He stops in front of me first eyeing me from head to toe, then taking the small sitting spot. I wonder why is he sitting on this bench, that's taken up by a girl, than all the other benches that are as empty as my brain right now.

"You look tired, Aria. Did you run a marathon or something?" He asks when I sit up. As I get myself together, I realize this boy is Will. I've seen him in the halls and he's in my biology class. His dad is the coach of the football team, plus our gym teacher. Will has always been under my list as popular guy in school, especially since he's varsity on the football team.

I remember that Will is still here,"I didn't run a marathon, but something like that." He chuckles then looks at the ground. I look around to see a few girls looking at us and whispering. If he is sitting next to me and not with all of those girls, then there's a problem. I turn back around, as if I had never saw them.

"Did you need biology notes or something?" I say.

He gives me a questioning look,"No, why? Am I not aloud to sit next to you and talk?"

Oh, so that's what this is about. I stand up and turn around to look at him again. Will's face has such a happy expression all the time now that I think about it. I sigh,"Will, I'm sorry but I already like someone." The happy expression is drained from his face, and replaced with sadness. I couldn't look at him like that. So, I walked away. Then started running to bail Eren out.

Eren's P.O.V

"Do you not understand how many people could've gotten hurt?!"

It's been about ten or so minutes since I've been abducted by Mr.Rubio's UFO. We usually have the same chat about every month, since I'm probably about to be late all the time to my classes. But it usually ends differently.

"Yes, Mr.Rubio. I know what I was doing though! Did you see that jump and my duck?" I defend back.

"Eren, do you know why I haven't given you detention?" He says. I shake my head in reply."It's because I see potential in you. Whether it's football or-" There's a knock at the door, a loud firm knock. Mr.Rubio decides that he should open it he doesn't want me to make an escape.

As the door opens, my mouth drops open. Standing in the door way, is Aria. Mr.Rubio clears his throat,"Miss Morrison! What a pleasant surprise. What brings you here?" She steps into the room and points at me."That is what brings me to your room."
