Y/n sat on a balcony overlooking the streets of zaun.
The sound of tiny rushed feet sounded out then a loud bang.
Behind him a tiny blue haired ball of energy burst through the door with a wide smile.
"Papa!" Vita yelled as she charged into the man's side.
Y/n chuckled and pulled her into his lap. "I send you to vi for one weekend and you come back a human rocket."
Vita smiled up at him then looked out over the balcony just as he did.
A companionable quiet overtook them.
That is until the energetic child much like her mother could no longer take the silence.
"Papa...I have a question." Vita said the young child stared at her palms fierce contemplation on face.
Y/n gently rubbed her back "shoot." He said.
Vitas gaze flitted from her hands to the luminescent city of zaun. "People say papa changed the world...that you made here a better place..." frustration began to show on her face, her chubby cheeks Reddening as she grit her teeth.
"But then they say stuff like papa is soft and made zaun weak and that we're slaves for the pilties now." Vita didn't fully understand what that meant but she did know it wasn't anything good based off of their expressions and tones when they said it.
"They say things like the changes that papa made aren't good and we're just waiting to be used and slaughtered." Y/n took notice of the anger slipping into his daughter's tone as she spoke.
"But that's not true! Papa has made things better for everyone!...right?" The makings of doubt began to ease its way into her words.
Y/n chuckled and ruffled her curls.
"Remember these feelings you have, that frustration, that doubt and the will to face them is what makes a leader." Y/n spoke proudly as he lifted her up into his arms and stood giving her a wide view of the city below.
"One day all of this will be yours, and like me just as many will look up to you, many will also dislike what you do." Y/n cupped vita's cheek and smiled at her.
"As your father I can only say that I'm trying to create a world where my lovely daughter can be happiest." Vita smiled at him as he spoke and wrapped her tiny arms around his neck.
"But as a leader I say I do what I must, even if I have to become a tyrant to do so." Y/n chuckled and held his daughter up in the air.
"All of this is to say, Today is brighter than yesterday and tomorrow is brighter than today, I will not be shackled by the obsolete, neither shall you." He brought her back down to his chest and hugged her tightly.
"You may not understand it now but one day, you'll be called to lead and may these words of wisdom guide you, even if that means undoing what I have done..."
Vita's eyes slowly fluttered open.
She wiped the tears from her droopy eyes and turned to a still sleeping powder.
Vita studied the woman her face was a near exact replica of her mother's except younger.
She was no fool.
Her dad always praised her for being intelligent she knew this wasn't her mother the moment she laid eyes on her.
The unnaturally pale skin, the short hair, the pink eyes there were many things different much too different to simply overlook.
