Chapter 8
Nara's POV
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I awoke to the smell of coffee in the kitchen. I stood up to see who was up. It was Jessie. She looked ready for the day.
"Oh, good morning, Nara. It looks like you got some rest." she smiled.
"Yes, I was able to clear my mind for once." I grinned.
"Good, well, i'm taking the kids out with me to do some shopping. I just need to bring Rhett this cup of coffee and then i'm heading out. Today's the day he has off and he usually sleeps in." she said turning to walk away.
"Wait, maybe I could do it for you so you can head out. It'll be a way to show my thanks for everything." I smiled.
"That would be awesome. I'll see you later, sweetie." Jessie said as she collected her stuff, grabbed the kids, and headed out the door.
I smiled evilly and clasped my hands together. I held the cup of hot coffee loosely in my hand and stood outside of the closed bedroom. The door handle turned and as soon as Rhett appeared, I pretended to bump into him and spill the coffee all down his shirt and pants.
He let out a yelp as the blazing coffee hit his skin. I pretended to be mortified as I begged for forgiveness over and over.
"Oh man, It's okay, Nara. It was an accident." he sighed as he shut the door to clean himself off.
I turned and walked back into living room with a sly grin.
I waited until Rhett walked back out and I put my head in my hands.
"Hey, it's really okay. I changed my clothes. It's really no big deal." he laughed.
"Are you sure? I feel terrible. I was just trying to show my appreciation by bringing you some coffee and ugh, i'm just so dumb." I looked down and put on a sad face.
"It's really okay! Don't sweat it. I have to go over to Link's house for a couple hours. Do you want to stay here or go?" Rhett asked with a smile.
"I think i'll stay here, if you don't mind. I'm still a little tired." I smiled.
"Alright, you take it easy. I'll be back in an hour or two. Call my phone if you need anything." Rhett walked towards the door.
"For sure. Thanks, Rhett." I fakely smiled as he closed the door behind him.
Go time, Nara.
I started my search for anything I could use for my plan. Paint, laxatives, various dyes, and a few other items completed my inventory. This was going to be fun.
Step one: put dark hair dye into Rhett's new shampoo. Check.
It was late in the day when everyone was finally home. Rhett and I walked over to Link's house because I was staying over there for the next couple nights. As the day winded down and I headed to bed, I was eager for tomorrow morning.
Lily wanted me to sleep in her room and I agreed. I slept on the floor while she had her bed. When I turned off the lights and laid back down, she rolled over to face me.
"Nara?" she whispered.
"Yeah?" I whispered back.
"I'm really happy you are here."
"Me too, kid."
"It's like I actually have a big sister now."
"Don't you like being the big sister of the house?" I asked.
