Ranma carried me effortlessly over his shoulder. "Really now," he said, his tone calm but edged with irritation. "Running away? That's not like you. I thought you were more mature than this." His hand squeezed my thigh—not hard, but enough to send a chill through me—and his voice dropped to a softer, patronizing tone. "You're too smart for your own good sometimes."
I pounded my fists against his back, my legs kicking uselessly. "You killed Akane! You killed them all! How could you?!" My voice cracked, raw with desperation, the words pouring out between sobs.
Still, he didn't deny it. He didn't argue. His silence was deafening, louder than any confession.
"You're overthinking again," he said finally, his voice maddeningly calm, as if he were lecturing a child. "You know I didn't want things to end up like this, but when you act out like this, you leave me no choice."
"Choice?!" I screamed, my throat hoarse. "What are you even talking about? Stop pretending this is normal! You're a monster!"
He sighed, the sound heavy with exasperation. "Name-calling now? Really?" He adjusted me slightly, keeping me secure over his shoulder as he walked. "I know you're upset, but you'll thank me eventually. This... outburst isn't good for you. For us."
His words were nonsensical, yet they only fueled the storm inside me. I screamed again, louder this time, praying someone—anyone—would hear. But the streets were empty, the world around us eerily silent. It was as if the entire town had vanished, leaving only the two of us.
When Ranma opened the door to my house and carried me inside, it was with the ease of someone returning to his own home. "You're staying here for a while," he announced, his tone firm, almost fatherly. "I'll take care of everything. You don't need to worry about a thing."
"You're insane!" I spat, struggling in his grasp. "I'll never forgive you for this! Never!"
He didn't respond immediately. Instead, he set me down gently on the couch, crouching in front of me with an unsettling calm. His dark eyes locked onto mine as he reached out, brushing a tear from my cheek. "You're upset," he said softly, his touch almost tender. "But you'll see. This is for the best."
His unshakable demeanor was the most terrifying thing of all.
"What did you do to her? Why? Why would you hurt me?" I demanded, my voice breaking with desperation.
Ranma sighed, his calmness unnerving as he held up a small bottle of tonic. He shook it lightly, the liquid sloshing inside. "You're being dramatic again," he murmured. "I'm not going to hurt you, princess. I'm just trying to fix this. Fix us."
"Fix us?!" I screamed, tears streaming down my face. "There is no 'us' to fix! You've destroyed everything! Akane is gone! Everyone is gone! How can you stand there and act like this is okay?!"
He tilted his head, studying me with a mix of pity and frustration. "You're too emotional right now. This will help you calm down." He uncorked the bottle, the faint scent of the tonic wafting through the air.
"No!" I yelled, thrashing as his large hands gently but firmly pinned me back. "Ranma, don't do this! Please!"
His grip was unyielding, though not harsh, and his calm voice sent chills down my spine. "You're going to feel so much better soon," he murmured. "No more fear, no more anxiety. Just us. Isn't that what you want?"
"It's not what I want!" I sobbed, my voice breaking. "You're insane! This isn't love—it's obsession!"
His expression softened into something almost wistful. "Maybe it is," he admitted quietly. "But can you blame me? You're everything to me. I can't think straight when you're not with me. I need you."
