Even though I was not happy with my job at the church, I was still very excited at the thought of working with the children. I did all my house chores very quickly. Unfortunately, Kevin got to the car first and so I had to take the bus. I arrived at the Swetwater Community Church and saw Daphne chatting with a guy wearing a blue polo shirt with cargo shorts and black sneakers. He wore sunglasses too. I really wanted to wipe that haughty look off his face. I walked up to Daphne and greeted her.

"Hey, Daphne", I said.

"Hey, Kim. I would like you to meet Alfie. Alfie, I would like you to meet Kim", Daphne said.

"Nice meeting you, Kim", Alfie told me.

"Nice meeting you too", I said.

"So what exactly is Alfie doing here?" I asked.

"He's helping us with the children".

"Yaay! The more the merrier", I said.

We all went inside the church. It was exciting to watch Susan telling the children Bible stories. What was even more exciting was watching the little children rehearse for the Christmas play. It was the classic old Christmas play. It was the classic old Christmas story about Jesus being born. Just watching this made me realize and remember that Jesus was a human being just like me and so he knows how it feels like to be a human being. It also made me see how even little children could serve and work for God. After everything, we cleaned the place up and arranged everything in their proper places.

All this continued for about two weeks till one day, Susan told us that she needed help with preparing the children for the play. She told us that that we would still clean the place up everyday. When Daphne and I heard the news, we were so excited. Alfie never stepped into the room to help us prepare the children for the Christmas play and I thought that was what he was supposed to do. After we were done for the day, I saw Alfie standing by his red Porsche. I decided to ask him what was bothering me.

"Alfie, why don't you join us in the room and help with preparing the children for the play?" I asked, going straight to the point.

"I am helping. I provide you guys with the props", Alfie answered.

"You haven't answered my question".

"Okay, I don't really like children".

"What do you mean you don't love children?"

"They make a lot of noise. They're just childish. I just don't get along with children, believe me. I don't think I would be of any help to you guys".

"Alfie, it's just a lame excuse. You would love these children. Don't worry".

"I'm satisfied with what I'm doing. At least I'm helping even if I'm not inside helping the children. Just continue doing what you're doing and leave me alone", Alfie said and stormed off.

Okay. Now where did I go wrong? I just wanted everything to be fair. Alfie had no right to storm off like that.
