I couldn't believe Mum and Dad were taking me to Sweetwater! The only time I remember being there was when I was like six. Plus I had planned to spend the winter with my best friends! Even though I tried to change mum's and dad's mind, they wouldn't budge. Here I was, stuck a car with my twin brother, Kevin and my elder sister Amanda on the way to Sweetwater. I looked out the window, the sky was dark, the snow was falling and everywhere was covered with white snow.
I looked at my twin brother, who was already fast asleep, my sister was reading something in a fashion magazine. I looked at my phone. I didn't want to call anybody so I just sat down staring at the night sky. I had just come back home from school, extremely tired. It was my turn to drive Kevin and Amanda and i felt like I had driven through the whole town. Mum was already home when I arrived and was packing some clothes into a suitcase.
"Are you traveling?"I asked.
"No, we're going to Sweetwater", my mum replied.
"Grandpa and Grandma always come down here. Why does that have to change?" I asked.
"We've not been to Sweetwater for a long time plus your grandparents are too old to travel down here".
"They're not going to walk, mum. They're going to take a car or even an airplane".
"Kim, we're going to Sweetwater whether you like it or not. Nothing you can do or say will change that. Now go to your room and start packing".
I knew that arguing with my mum was pointless so I just went up to my room and started packing my clothes and a few other items I would need. I called my two best friends, Cathy Taylor and Melissa Adams. I told them I would be leaving and had to cancel my plans with them.
A sudden, loud noise brought me back into reality. I looked out the window to see what had caused so much noise.
"Everything's just fine!" my dad shouted.
I got out and saw my dad busily trying to replace a burst tire. After some hours, he finally replaced it. It was going to be a long, long journey.
We finally arrived in the afternoon. Grandpa and Grandma lived in a brownhouse. I thought that they would live in a cottage or something like that. I guess it was because I hadn't been there in years. The walls were painted with a light shade of purple. Purple is my favourite colour! The front porch of the house was decorated with all kinds of flowers. The house was surrounded by a manicured lawn which was covered in white snow.
Wreaths, Christmas bells, ribbons and other Christmas decorations covered the front door. When we entered the house, an aroma of cookies wafted to my nose. An elderly man and woman greeted us and helped us with our bags. The elderly man had snowy white hair and baby-blue eyes. I was quite impresses with his dressing. I expected something very different. He was dressed in a black winter jacket and blue sweater and wore black pants. He also wore a pair of black winter boots. The elderly woman standing beside him also had snowy white hair which she tied into a bun and green eyes. She had a jolly smile on her face. She was dressed in a red winter jacket and a white and red striped sweater and denim jeans. She also wore a pair of black winter boots.
"You must all be feeling tired after your long journey. Oh! Is that Kim? And Kevin? And Amanda? You've all grown so big! The last time I saw you all, you were so tiny!" the elderly woman rambled.
"I'll show you to your rooms", the elderly man said.
The house was fairly big. In spite of this, I had to share a room with Amanda. I hated sharing rooms. I didn't have much time to examine the room. I was so tired that I fell asleep as soon as my head touched the pillow.
