I hear the faint sound of water lapping on the shore as I lay in my bed thinking of the new day ahead of me. Another day of school, oh the joy. I stand up and stare out of my window, looking at the beach, the water covering up the sand just to be pulled back into the ocean again. Like it is trying to reach for air and break free, but everytime it gets to close, someone pulls it back, barely letting it have enough air to survive. Not wanting it to reach its full potential, because it might just be better than them. It is 7:15am, I should go shower, it is almost time for me to head down to school.

I walk out my front door with my hood on waiting for Chris to come pick me up for the first day of school this year. Chris has been my friend since 3rd grade, which is probably the longest friendship I have ever had. We are both two outcasts, he came out gay to his parents 2 years ago, they didn't take it to well... they kicked him out and he lived at my place for 6 months, when his parents calmed down they decided to get back into contact with him. They told him he can move back on the conditions that he
1. Never brings a boyfriend home.
2. Doesn't act femine.
3. Doesn't tell any other family memeber.
4. Pays monthly rent.
5. Goes to church every sunday.

Which I think is complete and utter bullshit. He is gay, I am depressed and suicidal which apparently is a really good match for friends. He pulls up outside my house in his slightly messed up car I jump over the door and land gracefully in my seat. We crank up the music, heavy metal blasting out the speakers and drive to school.

When we pull up at school Chris looks over at me and says "Come on Louis, it is time to embrace the wonderfullness of this amazing school with its kind and loving students and attentive teachers." And he flashes his signature smile. If I did not know him this well, I would have thought he is a happy butterfly, but no. He is a moth. A sad moth. A sad sarcastic, gay moth.

We walk into school and part our ways to our first period classes. I have art first petiod. I walk in and see her, the most beautiful human being I have ever seen, I swear my heart just skipped a beat. Her green eyes, and long brown hair. I see her look up at me and I just look at her, admiring her features, her small frekkles, her lipring and her stunning smile. I need to know who she is.

Mr. Smith takes the roll, at every name I listen to see who answers, when finally she answers. Her name, is Sophia Lakeman.
