Wren wakes with a tormented scream. I could tell she wasn't fully awake as I reached for her. She quickly grabs one of her daggers from under her pillow startled before rushing towards a corner of the room, positioned and ready to strike.

"Stay back." She warns terrified.

"Careful," Nuri utters through the bond.

"It's me, Wren." I try to take a step closer but she lashes out with her dagger not fully in reality.

"I said stay back." She screams.

"It's me. It's Bodhi. I'm here Wren." I reassure her.

She shakes her head. "No. Y-You're trying to trick me.....I won't fall for it this time."

"It's me baby. It's Bod." I say through the bond my gold shimmer wrapping around her in comfort.

Her nose scrunches, eyes widen for a moment. "Bodhi?" She whispers. "It's really you....." she lowers her dagger letting it fall to the ground with a clatter. She was coming back to me. My chest tightens, my heart breaking with each passing moment that she struggles.

"It really is."

Her shoulders shag before dropping to the ground hands covering her face as she sobs. "I just want it all to stop." She begs through the bond.

I slowly and carefully sit on the ground in front of her, opening my arms enough to invite her to lay against me if she wanted. "Please let me hold you." I plead in a whisper.

Her tear filled eyes find mine in the darkness debating and assessing if I'm a threat before she slowly crawls to my lap her head timidly and shakily rests along my chest. "I'm going to hold you now and stroke your hair." I warn her, feeling her body relax just a fraction knowing what I'm planning on doing. I've learned these last few days that she responds better knowing what I'm about to do rather than springing it on her.

One of my arms wraps around her frail body, the other takes it's time slowly brushing through her curly hair. "I can't escape him. He's....everywhere." She whispers in the quiet of midnight.

"He's dead baby. You, Violet, and Xaden pushed that dagger straight through his heart. You saw the life in his eyes go out." I remind her. If only I could bring him back to life only to torture him for a hundred thousand years before I rip him to pieces and feed him to the dragons.

"I will feed on his carcass." Ryuu's growl comes roaring inside my head.

"Of course."

"Bod...." Wren looks up at me scared. "What if I never go back to normal? What if I can't....."

"Then we'll find a new normal." I reassure her.

"A new normal...." She whispers to herself, her head coming back to rest on me. She falls asleep in my arms, my body sitting tensed on the ground not daring to move an inch. This is the best sleep she's gotten in days.
