Melania
Going to Damon’s house was the best decision I’ve ever made. For the first time, I felt peace — a peace I never thought I could have. Damon carries a darkness, but beneath it, he’s the light that pulls me in.Silently, he takes my hand and slips a ring onto my finger.
“Damon, what are you doing?” I ask, my heart racing.
He smirks, his eyes locking with mine. “Claiming what’s mine. Forever.”
I smile softly, pressing a kiss to his lips. “I guess we should get going. I have college to attend, remember?”
Hand in hand, we head downstairs. Stephy greets us with her usual cheerful grin. I sit down to feed Sarah, who’s been fussing, clearly hungry. Breakfast feels calm — like this is how life should always be.
After we finish, Damon drives me to college in his sleek black jeep. He pulls up in front of the campus, and I lean over, kissing him goodbye.
“I’ll see you later,” I whisper, stepping out.
He gives me one last smirk before driving off.
As I walk toward the entrance, Maeve catches sight of me and gasps, her eyes gleaming with excitement. From a distance, Gabriel spots Damon and waves. Damon returns the gesture before disappearing down the road.
Gabriel joins us. “So...things with him are settled now?” he asks with a knowing grin.
I force a smile. “Yeah...kind of. But not really. It’s complicated, Gabe. My dad’s planning to marry me off to some 52-year-old billionaire in exchange for money. He’s pushing for the wedding in six months, but I overheard Vaughn saying Derek wants it even sooner. Three months, maybe less. I haven’t told Damon yet...and I’m terrified. I love him, but everything feels like it’s falling apart.”
Maeve’s expression softens with worry. “We’re here for you, Melania. Whatever happens, we’ve got your back.”
Gabriel leans in slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper. “Melania...if things ever get too bad, I have somewhere you can go. My family’s old village house — it’s far out in the countryside, completely remote. No one ever goes there anymore. If you need to escape, come to me. I’ll take you there myself, and you can stay as long as you need. No one will find you. You’ll be safe.”
Emotion wells in my chest as I wrap my arms around him. “Thank you, Gabe. You have no idea how much this means to me.”
“You’re not alone,” he murmurs, holding me tight.
For the first time in days, I feel like maybe there’s hope — even if the road ahead is uncertain.
