Lydia sat around the only table at the break room, legs lifted on another chair and back relaxed enjoying the smell of baked goods and a mixture of coffee, "It's been a couple of days.. I should go back now. Ah, but my comfy home.."

''Hey..'' Matthew sat by the other side of the table, eating a breakfast sandwich which was one of the Café hit items. Mozzarella, tomato, pesto and spinach, ''How about you and wifey go on a small trip together?''

''Really?!'' Millie nudged his shirt from the bicep, ''Are you serious? That's a great idea!''

''Yeah!'' Matthew beamed, ''You're in a dire need of a getaway, and so is Lydia over there..'' He nodded his head.

''You, mister, are such a treasure—'' Millie hugged his side resulting into a very smug grin by the husband.

''I am, right?'' He really leaned into it, ''I'll take care of everything here.''

''I might've just fallen in love again." Millie cooed, ''What do you say, Lydia?'' Her eyes by themselves were severely begging.

''Uh.. I did say i'd be back after a couple of days..'' Lydia fixed her hair which was stuck between the back of the chair and her, ''And going on a trip midweek is a bit..''

''A couple of days could be two days, or four.. Five.." Millie did her best to lure her in, ''It's not very specific..'' She wiggled her eyebrows. That mischievous little devil on the shoulder.

Lydia could see how desperately Millie needed this trip, besides, they used to go somewhere each season. Usually as a group of three, but Matthew knew how much undone business they still had around the Inn. The business really took off only a couple of years ago and after that it had been a rollercoaster of trying to balance work and play.

''Besides, one of our part-time workers has been asking for extra hours if we have any to offer. If it's fine with you, I'd have someone to cover your shift tomorrow and Wednesday as well.'' Matthew took the final bite of his breakfast.

''I guess we should, then.'' Lydia smiled while getting up, her break almost over, ''Dean didn't mention any plans for this week anyway. Where he'd need me, that is.'' She shrugged.

''YES!'' Millie threw her hands in the air, her short curly hair bouncing along, ''Let's go hiking! Perfect for spring time, not too hot or too cold.''

''Okay fine, you win!'' Lydia giggled as she left the room to switch breaks with Emma.

''Don't worry, I'll take you somewhere this summer — just the two of us!'' Lydia heard Millie gratefully cooing at Matthew while the man himself basked in the praises.

Those two little lovebirds. Anyone seeing them would mistake the pair as newlyweds, and not a couple going on their seventh year of marriage after dating since high school.

A lucky couple to have met each other so soon in life.

''I thought I was lucky too when I was younger.. Ah, can't believe I'm even bearing Chase a thought at this point..''

Lydia carried her backpack on one shoulder as she made sure a couple of times that the apartment door was truly locked. As if the handle would magically open on the second try when it didn't in the first attempt. Listing things in her head to make sure she packed everything, Lydia finally stepped outside and could feel the scent of the spring already attaching to her hair, spinning it in a soft twirl.

A beautiful day for a getaway.

Millie waited with her car ready parked by the side of the apartment building. As they set off, they immediately shared a playlist on Spotify which they both had added their favorite songs both classics and new the night before, and blasted the music while singing along. The playlist name was Runaway chosen by Millie — The first song named the same by Bon Jovi added by Lydia which made them laugh as soon as the recognizable melody from the 80s' keyboard started playing. As soon as they were out of the city, Lydia opened some bags of snacks which she prepared for the long drive, and they enjoyed them while talking about the last weeks true crime podcast which Millie was obsessed with.
