“Physical wellbeing comes from eating little, mental wellbeing come from sinning little, wellbeing of the heart comes from worrying little and wellbeing of the the tongue comes from speaking little.” A’id al-Qarni
Maraya check the book again and read out the tittle; “YOU CAN BE THE HAPPIEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD”, the tittle sounds interesting to her. There are more than one book on Afnan’s table, but it was the book that first caught her attention. She is not the type to be reading Islamic book because she is afraid some of the text may be against her and her conscience will be disturbing her each time she remembers, this is one of the reasons why she never listen or attend any islamic lecture throughout her life.
She open to the first chapter and read, it was a welcome note for the reader and looks so inviting that she wants to read more, she keeps turning on the page that she did not realizes someone is behind her until Afnan cleared her throat and she quickly closed the book and dropped it back to where she picked it up.
“I thought you will be going to your aunt’s place today?” she stood up from Afnan’s reading table facing her now and she can sense the fatigue in her.
“I changed my mind. Am not feeling too good so i just want to rest.” Afnan removes her Abaya and gently laid on her bed, Maraya watches as she climbed the bed and closes her eyes. It was the first time she entered the room without a smile, she stood there looking at her and she felt that some thing is wrong with her roommate more than just tiredness.
She felt her body temperature and realizes it was high, Afnan shakes in response to her touch. “Your temperature is high.” She said and quickly walks to take out her thermometer from her first aid bag.
“I need to check your temperature, Afnan.” She said as she slipped the thermometer in her armpit looking at Afnan as she waited for the thermometer to make a beep sound.
When she checked what the temperature reads, it was 37.50C. she went to get some water and towel so that she can tepid sponge her, throughout the period Afnan rarely make any move. Her eyelid were already drooping and by the time Maraya finishes the tepid sponging, Afnan has already fell asleep.
Maraya smiles as she watches her sleep, she guessed that Afnan’s weakness is due to the sleepless night she had when she was in the hospital and even after the discharge, she had been busy with studying and extracurricular activities that she hardly have enough time to rest.
She picked up the book she was reading before to continue from where she stopped, reading has always been her second nature but Islamic reading was never her cup of tea. She was reading the second chapter when her phone rang and she checked the caller Id to see that it was Akin, since the accident which is more than a month now she has not spoken with him but now she don’t want to continue avoiding him.
