Normalcy

Some hours pass, and we chat idly. Honestly, this might be the first conversation we've had where I wasn't kind of a bitch, and where he didn't piss me off so easily. Eventually we get back round to the main reason we even met up to talk today — and good God is it easier to talk about now that we cleared up any lingering tension.

Saiki starts off. "I kind of assumed you would want to have tried practicing my abilities on your own — seeing how you found me irritating... and you do seem quite independent." He shrugs.
"Ehh... yeah, I'm independent, but I never really hated you, you know? I was planning on asking you to help me out soonish, I just kinda forgot to sometimes, or you annoyed me so I put it off. But — wait, damnit, I swear I can't speak properly sometimes."

I sigh, and it's long and weary. Why do my thoughts never come out my mouth right the first damn time?

"Okay. So, yes, I was gonna ask you for help, because I wanted to help you. And I still do. Yeah, I'm independent, but I know when I can't do something on my own. And I'm not scared of asking when I do need help. I didn't ask you earlier, because one, I found you kind of annoying, two, I forgot a couple times... yeah, that's about it. But I never really... fully disliked you. I just thought you were kind of a douche, and it's a little funny when I piss you off. Sorry, by the way."
He waves it off.
"But, yeah, I thought maybe we could practice while we hung out."
"You wanted to 'hang out' with me?" He smirks.
"Slow down — it was to help you."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Saiki shrugs.

Grinning, I fold my arms. "I mean, yeah, you've got a couple girls swooning over you, but don't let it get to your head. You're really not all that, Pinky."
He frowns at me, folding his arms back at me. "I never claimed— I didn't ever—" Giving up and huffing, Saiki switches and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Could you stop calling me 'Pinky'?"
"No."
"Amazing."

He leans back and changes the topic. "I didn't realise you were planning to ask for help. In my defence, you never gave me an explanation on how you were planning to 'help me', you just told me you would with no further information."
I wave a hand dismissively. "Whatever, why did it matter how, anyway? I promised I would."
"Yes, well, I have trust and control issues, as you've previously and correctly assumed—" He glances at me, holding a finger up to silence me before I interrupt. "Yeah, I know, 'get out of your head', but this was before today, and I'm sorry before you fly off the handle at me again." Saiki freezes as he finishes speaking, and I laugh.
"Wow, nice word choice. Really rubbing in my anger issues."
"Sorry."
Shrugging, I sigh. "You're not too far off though, are you? I did blow up."

He nods hesitantly. "Well, neither of us helped with that. But... am I really that much like—"
I grimace and sit up straight. "No, I mostly said that just to hurt your feelings. Sorry. You're not that much like Teruhashi."
Pausing, a thought crosses my mind and I decide it's not that bad. "By the way, if you want to communicate telepathically with me, it's fine. I don't care that much any more — well, now that we're cool, anyway."
"Oh. Thanks." He nods again.

I watch his face for a second. "Do... you want to carrying on speaking for now?"
"Yeah, it's something different." The Pinkette shrugs, and I nod back. Yeah, thought so.
"Just don't go prodding around all the time, got it?" Nudging him with my elbow, I try to get him to look at me, just to see if he's still alright.

He glances up and me, nodding. "It's too much effort to do consistently, anyway. I wouldn't want to 'all the time'." Smirking, he adds. "Plus, there isn't anything interesting going on up there, anyway, is there? What's the point?" Little shit. So you're gonna pull a 180° now, huh?
"Ha! Wow, where was this attitude when you were stood outside my bedroom to listen in? Freak."
"Hey, I didn't trust you then. We went over this, and I already apol—"
Cutting him off, I pat his shoulder. "I know, I'm getting back at you."
Frowning, he leans back. "What's my name in your phone, by the way?" What? How does he know that?
"Oi, how do you even know I have a nickname for you?"
"I've seen your notifications when people have messaged you and we were together, you have a 'nickname' for all of your contacts. Is mine 'Pinky'?"
I laugh and shake my head. "It was for a couple days or something, but not anymore."
I pull my phone out and unlock it, opening up my Contacts app and scrolling down to "S", tapping on his contact info.

"Wha— 'Stalker'?! Change it!"
"No."
"Then I will."
"Use your little powers on my phone and I'll block you and ignore you again."

Not that it made a difference, I'm not even allowed to be upset with him and need space because APPARENTLY, HE'LL SHOW UP AT MY BLOODY DOOR.

'Well sorry, I haven't exactly been in this kind of situation before, and I wasn't about to accept that you'd blocked me after only just giving me your contact information.'
I blank stare at him, and he glances away awkwardly for a second. 'Get out of your head?'
'Yes.'
'You said I could communicate like this now.'
I roll my eyes and push his shoulder. 'Yeah, and I said not to poke around.' He frowns.
'Make up your mind, either I can or I can't.'
Sighing, I shrug. 'Yeah, yeah, fine, you can, then. But if I make a comment you can't act all surprised.'
Saiki nods and shrugs back. 'Fine by me.'

I clap my hands together and look around. "So, what should we do? Practice a little now?"

I'm not sure what else we can do right now. It's about 5pm, and although his company's getting less uncomfortable, I don't think he's got the social battery to carry on yapping with me for much longer. Might as well do something productive.

He nods, pausing before standing. 'Might as well.' Huh, my thoughts exactly. 'I'm not sure what the easiest thing for you to try and replicate would be, since they all come to me equally naturally — well, for the most part. It just varies with how much I can tone each of them down, or with time limits.'
"Well, hit me with a list and I'll choose whatever sounds easiest." I don't stand with him, leaning back and letting my eyes shut.

Saiki pauses, before speaking telepathically again. I guess, if he's more comfortable with it it's not that bad to deal with. I'll get used to it, anyway.

'I have many powers, probably the one I use the most is telepathy, even though it's against my will to. Then I'd say clairvoyance next to check on people's whereabouts, or telekinesis. It's just convenient, mainly. Then teleportation to get out of situations I don't want to be in — although I have to be careful with it. The amount of times I've had to alter people's memories because they've noticed me using one of my powers is discomforting, to say the least. Another power I have constantly going on is X-Ray vision—'

My eyes snap open and I stare at him, but he's facing away from me, wandering around my living room.

'—for some reason, this doesn't seem to work on other psychics. It's partly why I knew almost right away you were also psychic, as well as Toritsuka.'
"Toritsuka's such an idiot." I shut my eyes again, and the words slip out before I can stop myself — mentioning the purple-haired dumbass around the same time as 'X-Ray' just... ew. He's getting a little better, through.
'Well, he definitely doesn't hide the fact he has psychic abilities, but you get all sorts of psychics who profit off of their gifts in all sorts of ways.'
Shrugging, I nod. "Yeah." Jesus Christ, the X-Ray bit gave me a heart attack, thank God I'm psychic. Well — thank God Pinky's not a perv. I frown and my thoughts pause.

Opening my eyes again, I glance over at him. "Toritsuka doesn't have X-Ray, too, does he?"
Saiki turns to look at me. 'Nope. And it's a damn good thing he doesn't, too. And before you ask, no, I have not tried using X-Ray vision on you, and no, I don't...'
Nodding as he glances awkwardly away, I shrug. "I figured you weren't the type."
"...Thanks."
