Madness
Slipping through the cracks of your conscious, escaping the edge of your blurred gaze-your careful attentiveness. Remained hidden by the shadows of impossibilities you cast onto your own world, you remained blissfully unaware of the sheer atrocities this realm had to offer, basking in the serenity of the belief that your existence was just a mere speck hidden by other glories and beauties.
Only this ignorant truth would soon be completely ripped to shreds in front of your unconsenting eyes-yet it was too late to wish that at least they had remained virgins to the act of horrors that would soon haunt your every waking moment.

The day hadn't been unusual-
just another set of routines, following a particular string of rules and to-dos, as one does in a society. Trying to balance out sleep with work-and work with studying, exhausting yourself with the things that still managed to spark some sort of joy in you.
You were in another previously established pattern, sitting in the familiar auditorium, listening to another lecture on content that both managed to excite yet bore you-a contradiction you knew all to well, but only slowly learned to love.
Complaints about mundanity being comforting yet disappointing; causing you to crave situations that made your heart race accelerate and palms sweaty with both anxiety and nervousness.
"...that's it for this week. Make sure to remember to do all preparatory readings for the next lesson. The lecture slides are available online as per usual." your lecturer came to an end, finally absolving you from the three hour long torture on your body, arse aching with your spine as stiff as a piece of cardboard. God and people said this was the best time of your life.
"Wanna go grab a snack somewhere?" a sweet voice chirped, lulling you out of your momentary state of pessimism and reminding you just why college life was so rewarding- the friends you made along the way.
What did some scholar once babble about-not the goal is the goal, but the way to the goal-or something like that, and how true they had been!
Because the chocolate croissant you were stuffing your face with, while your other friends were chatting about some new hot gossip-or were whining about all the work they had to finish for their courses-was divine and very rewarding for the matter.
"Were you really that hungry, huh? Didn't take you for a beast." Sofie joked, the one having come up with the brilliant idea to spend the break between classes and campuses, especially on a wet and sad day like this-with the rain acting as a free alternative to a shower- in a café, but one that wasn't nearby.
