Dylan

My right fist was clenched in anger. How dare that jerk ruin our moment! I was just about to tell Lily that it didn't matter if she forgave me or not, because I would still feel the same way about her. But then that idiot on his 'bad boy bike' came and soaked us both, not only humiliating me but making Lily cold. I could feel her shivering from her small delicate hand that my large left one was gently clasping. It felt wonderful to be able to hold Lily's hand, I would have burst with excitement if it weren't for my anger that was slowly taking over. But that wouldn't matter in a few minutes, we were in the school parking lot now and I was going to find him and make him apologize to both of us.

It turned out finding him was the least of my worries. It had been Lily who had discovered him right away.

"I don't see a bike anywhere, do you?" I asked intent on my search.I felt her hesitate beside me.

"No, but what's that crowd over there for?" She pointed over at a group of thirty or so people gathered in a circle around something.

"I have no idea." I stated. This time it wasn't me who dragged Lily forwards.

When we reached the crowd, the two of us slipped in easily enough. And as we made it to the center of the circle, I just happened to be watching Lily as she stared at whatever the crowd had been hiding. I saw her eyes widen and her lips part in surprise. She was beautiful and I would have stared forever, but I was curious. So I followed her gaze to rest on the guy sitting relaxed on the motorcycle, his back to us. He still had his helmet on and was leaning against the bike as if he was waiting for someone. I felt like I was in some awful horror movie as I saw him turn as if he knew Lily was there. When he was facing us, well facing Lily I knew he was staring at her. Even though I couldn't see his face, it was obvious it was only her he was gazing at.

My head whipped back to glance at Lily. She was stricken by the mysterious biker, god I hope he's got a pigs head underneath that helmet.

Luck was not with me today.

Because I was so close to Lily I heard her breathe in sharply and I knew what was coming. And I was right. When I turned back to look at the mystery guy I saw him, in one fluid motion, reach for his helmet and slip it off. What was hiding under the helmet was the complete opposite of what I had . hoped. By the way he was staring at Lily and she was staring at him I knew, knew I was in trouble. So I made the choice to step in.

"Hey, you!" I hollered at the mystery guy. He didn't even blink. Damn. I took a step towards him, pulling Lily with me. She stumbled a bit, unprepared for my movement. As this happened the mystery boy's eyes zoomed in on our linked fingers, his jaw tightened at what he saw. I took another step.

"Dylan" Lily warned me, her voice said be careful, but her eyes remained locked on the strangers. At Lily's voice the boy turned his glare from my hand to my face. I couldn't help it, I flinched. Without warning his expression smoothed out and a small emotionless smile appeared.

" Dylan is it?" His voice was smooth and deep. I gave an almost imperceptible nod, but he still managed to catch it.

"Well it's nice to meet you man. I'm Jesse. And you are?" He turned back to Lily lifting one perfect eyebrow. God why was this guy so annoying! To make things worse Lily blushed, she actually blushed! Can't she see what a tool he is?

"Lily." she spoke in such a soft tone with a hidden smile. He caught on immediately.

"Lily. What a pretty name for a pretty girl." He smirked at her. That Ass, he didn't waste a second! I had to do something right away.

"Jesse was it?" I asked mocking the same tone he used with me earlier. He glanced back at me like I was simply an ant under his boot, someone he could easily squash. Well, ants can carry up to 100 times their body weight. And you Jesse, aren't that big.

"You need to apologize to Lily and I for getting us soaked when you sped past us on that brilliant- I mean stupid bike. Lily is freezing because of that." He seemed a little taken aback by my outburst but he quickly composed himself.

"Dylan, I am sorry." he apologized in a bored voice.  Then he turned to Lily.

"Lily, I am terribly sorry about getting you wet," his innuendo did not go unnoticed.

"I feel especially terrible about making such a delicate thing like you so cold. Please take my jacket to keep warm." Without waiting for a response he shrugged off his black leather jacket and held it out to her. I saw her hesitate. She looked straight up at the sky, but the rain was already letting up so she had no excuse. Slowly she reached out, curling her fingers around the dark leather and pulling it to her chest. Painfully I felt her untangle her grip from mine as she pushed her arms through the sleeves so that the jacket rested properly against her small frame.  She was drowning in leather, and she looked good.

"Thank you." Lily mumbled. The crowd around us was soaking everything in like a sponge. There would be rumors by first period, great.

"Lily," Jesse started. God, did he always have to say her name? He continued talking, "I'm a new student so I don't really know where I'm going. Would you be able to show me to the main office?"

" I could." I spoke without meaning to.

"No that's alright, I think Lily here is capable. But thanks mate." His icy stare caused me to flinch again. While I was trying to thaw Jesse grabbed Lily's hand tugging her towards the school. The crowd parting like the red sea. I couldn't do anything but watch her go, we were friends now but nothing more. Though I still had hope.

Before they got too far away, Lily turned back.

"I forgive you." she shouted.
