The Choi household was filled with the warm glow of Christmas lights and the scent of cinnamon and gingerbread. Jeonghan and Seungcheol had outdone themself with the decorations this year, and their living room looked like it belonged on the cover of a holiday magazine.

In the kitchen, Jeonghan was busy setting out bowls of colorful icing, sprinkles, and candy, preparing for their annual gingerbread baking. His apron read “Santa’s Favorite” in bold letters, which Seungcheol had rolled his eyes at earlier.

“Mingyu! Wonwoo! Get in here, or your Appa and I are eating all the cookies ourselves!” Jeonghan called out.

Mingyu and Wonwoo, both dressed in matching Christmas sweaters, entered the kitchen. Mingyu looked eager as ever, while Wonwoo appeared a bit more cautious, clearly unsure of what kind of chaos awaited.

“Isn’t this a bit much?” Wonwoo asked, glancing at the mountain of baking supplies.

“No such thing as too much when it comes to gingerbread cookies my dear” Jeonghan replied with a grin. “Now, let’s get started!”

The family gathered around the counter as Jeonghan rolled out the dough.

“Eomma, you’re rolling it too thin,” Mingyu complained.

“Excuse me?” Jeonghan said, raising an eyebrow. “Who taught you how to bake, young man?”

“You did, but I’ve surpassed the master,” Mingyu teased.

“Surpassed?!” Jeonghan gasped dramatically, clutching his chest. “Cheol, did you hear that?”

Seungcheol, who was busy sneaking pieces of dough into his mouth, shrugged. “I mean, the kid’s got a point.”

“Unbelievable,” Jeonghan muttered, shaking his head. “This is the thanks I get for raising you.”

Wonwoo laughed quietly. “Mingyu, maybe we should let your Eomma lead. You don’t want to start a war on Christmas.”

“Smart boy” Jeonghan said, giving Wonwoo an approving nod.

As they cut out shapes from the dough, the chaos truly began.

“Why does my gingerbread man look like he’s melting?” Mingyu asked, holding up a misshapen cookie.

“It’s abstract” Seungcheol said, trying to make him feel better.

“Yours looks worse” Mingyu shot back, pointing at Seungcheol’s cookie, which had one arm much shorter than the other.

“That’s because it’s a warrior who lost an arm in battle” Seungcheol said, puffing his chest.

Jeonghan rolled his eyes. “You two are hopeless”

Wonwoo, who had been silently perfecting his cookies, placed a beautifully shaped gingerbread tree on the tray.

“See? That’s how it’s done” Jeonghan said, gesturing to Wonwoo’s work.

“Show-off” Mingyu mumbled, though he couldn’t hide his fond smile.

Once the cookies were baked and cooled, it was time for decorating. This part was supposed to be fun, but it quickly turned competitive.

“Why does your gingerbread man have sunglasses?” Jeonghan asked, staring at Seungcheol’s cookie.

“Because he’s cool” Seungcheol replied with a smirk.

“Cool? He looks like he just walked out of a bad action movie” Jeonghan teased.

Meanwhile, Mingyu and Wonwoo were working on a gingerbread couple, each one meticulously decorated.

“Look!! Eomma! It’s you and Appa” Mingyu said, holding up the cookies.

Jeonghan took one look and laughed. “Why do I look so short?”

“Art imitates life” Mingyu said with a grin.

“Respect your Eomma” Jeonghan said, trying to sound stern but failing.

“Listen to your Eomma” Seungcheol added, before sneaking another cookie into his mouth.

“Stop eating them!” Jeonghan scolded, swatting Seungcheol’s hand.

“It’s quality control!” Seungcheol defended himself.

By the end of the night, the kitchen was a mess of icing, sprinkles, and laughter. The gingerbread cookies, while far from perfect, were a testament to the love and chaos of their little family.

As they sat around the table, sipping hot chocolate and admiring their creations, Mingyu leaned against Wonwoo, who wrapped an arm around him.

“This was fun,” Wonwoo said softly.

“It always is,” Mingyu agreed, looking at his parents. “Even if you two are extra dramatic.”

“Dramatic?” Jeonghan said, feigning offense.

“We’re just passionate,” Seungcheol added, pulling Jeonghan closer. “Right, wifey?”

“Exactly,” Jeonghan said, leaning into Seungcheol with a satisfied smile. “Merry Christmas, my loves.”

“Merry Christmas,” they all echoed, the warmth of their family outshining even the twinkling lights on the tree.
