The next few days went by like the first. People picked on me at school. When Xander was around, he’d stop those who were in the process of bullying me, and while he was around no one tried to pick on me. That one girl who I shot down at my locker for picking on me decided to start being a mute to try and get Xander’s attention. Of course It didn’t work. Xander and I have become good friends, and he’s my only one here. Slowly, I think I’m starting to trust him. A small part of me really wants to trust him and be closer to him, but I’m not sure if I can trust myself. I’ve also gotten some music on my iPod. That at least, I’m happy about.

“Hurry up or I’ll leave you behind!” Xander called from downstairs. I ran down the stairs, my hair flying behind me. For once, it was straight. He tossed a random fruit at me, which has become a daily habit.

“I like your hair. It looks good this way too. Also don’t forget it’s a choice day,” he said. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. This school has main course days and choice days. It’s a week to week thing, though this week, it’s choice. I’m kind of nervous about it.

We arrived at school and I went to my first class, gym. I didn’t particularly like sports, but I like exercising to stay fit. Plus, you got to do yoga. I sat on the bleachers, and a few moments later, I saw Xander. A few guys were around him. There were probably his friends. I’ve never see him with them though. Xander was smiling and laughing, soon catching my glance. Xander waved at me then ran up the steps to sit next to me; his friends followed.

“So is this your mute cousin you were telling us about?” asked one of his friends who had blond hair.

“She’s H-O-T hot!” said the one with red hair. I tilted my head down to hide my blush.

“Come on guys. Leave her alone. It’s my job to embarrass her not yours,” said Xander pulling me in for a quick hug. That’s when I noticed something. They all had a few things in common. All of them were tall like six foot five inches tall, and compared to my tiny five foot three inches self, they all towered over me, including Xander. They were all extremely well built, not body builder built, but athletically well built. I knew that Xander had a six pack from accidently running into him when he walked out of the bathroom one day. Now that I think about it, all of them are extremely hot. No wonder almost every girl drools over them. Thinking of this, I bit the inside of my lip to keep myself from blushing.

“Oh how I wish I knew what you were thinking of right now! You’re biting your lip again,” whispered Xander just as the bell rang. He had picked up on some of my habits by now. I playfully punched him in the chest.

“Alright class as you should know this is gym. When I call your name come get your gym uniform then come back here,” the teacher said as she began calling names. I got my uniform then went and changed. By the time I got back, Xander and his friends were there, already changed. I still have no idea how guys change so fast.

In a few moments, we had to start running. We walked when the music was quiet, and when it was loud, we ran. I had my hair tied back, so when running it wouldn’t get in my way. The music got louder.

I started running. At first, I didn’t feel like trying, but then Xander started to playfully tease me. His friends soon joined in. I kicked it into high gear. My almost walking speed increased greatly. I was keeping up with Xander now, and he was fast.

“Who knew? She’s actually pretty fast for a girl,” said Xander’s friend with brown hair. I smiled at him as thanks.

“I bet you can’t beat me,” said Xander as he tore off running. A moment later I bolted after him and caught up. He sped up again as I started to pass him. Soon enough we were lapping everyone else. When the music died down, he was slightly ahead of me. We both caught our breath as we walked around the gym.
